We bought one in San Diego this summer. I'd be surprised if you needed a power adaptor - most laptop's can work on 100-240 volts. You would need an adaptor plug - costs a £ or 2. E-bay is a good source - or Poundland.

Only issue I've come across is very minor keyboard changes between US and UK keyboards.

Yeah, US keyboards don't have a pound sign... but actually they sort of do. ;) See, what Americans call the pound sign the British call the hash sign. And what the British call the pound sign isn't even on the American keyboard. You'll find the @ and " symbols are switched around too. It took a while for me to get used to but I eventually did!
