We are a family of 3 planning to fly to Marseille in August 08 and would like to stay anywhere around the Marseille area (1hr traverling max) we like the idea of staying maybe inland near Verdon Canyon and the lakes. Are there any nice campsites with mobile homes , b&b's, hotels with swimming pools in the area which are suitable for families?
Is this area expensive to eat out? as I've heard that this area can be.
All info on this area would be welcome.
Your best bet is to start by looking at a map and noting the major towns in the area you want to stay in. Then 'google' them with their names and 'tourist office'. This should throw up some local tourist offices with listings of accommodation.
You might like to contact the main state tourist agency of the area (PACA - Provence and Côte d'Azur) in the same manner, PACA Office de Tourisme or even Marseille Office de Tourisme.
Prices ARE high in this area of France, the weather is hot and traffic queues can be horrendous. Just a warning! And book your hire car well in advance as demand often outweighs supply.
