Hi and happy new year to everyone.
I would like to know if there is somewhere I can get local leaflets/brochures about Cyprus. I have the usual travel books etc but wish to find out more local info.
Also we are going in august for the first 2 weeks are there any important bank holiday/religous dates that I need to know about when shop shut down for the day etc?

As someone said, check out the Cyprus Tourist Organisation. Their website is http://www.cyprustourism.org and contains a wealth of information, maps, etc

Last year the shops stayed open near the harbour area
When in Cyprus, you can get loads of booklets from the Cyprus Tourism Organisation offices for free. A lot of info there, including many excellent road maps.
