MYT themselves haven't ever operated a flight from Birmingham to Hurghada - there has only ever been a direct flight to Hurghada in the winter (Nov to end April) on XL (actually operated by Air Malta) ...............

I know yes it was going to be an XL flight(via Air Malta) I just don't know why they advertise this being available when it just isn't going to happen.I wonder how many others have been caught like this.It's no wonder MYT are always in the press as having financial problems. On the cancellation invoice, it showed we wouldn't land in manchester until 2330 which would mean getting home to Bristol at ? 330 am!! I don't think so!!
I will have to try to get something else now but am not sure about going to Sharm instead.Is it very commercialised?

Looks like MyTravel just booked seats on the XL flight which is code shared with AirMalta. Sounds like this is not MyTravel's fault as they are only chartering seats on the flight.

Methinks XL or AirMalta have now decided it's not worth operating the route from Birmingham and probably combined it with the Manchester route.

COuld it have anything to do with the takeover of Mytravel by Thomas Cook?

I went to Sharm with Mytravel (Panorama) in April, apart from the rep who was a bit 'absent' they didn't seem any worse or better than the other TO's.

We were however on a thomsonfly plane. I think they must just charter as appropriate. They may not have enough of a foothold in the Red Sea resorts to warrent using their own planes.

Just a point, Doe, I may be wrong, but I'm sure I've seen MyTravel liveried planes at Taba in the past.

Probably right Carrot. I think they may have some that go to the Red Sea resorts, Panorama certainly shows a lot of hotels in its brochure for the area.

Perhaps it's just a matter of consolidating flights if Thomson and Mytravel only have half a plane load of people each for a given date.

It's so nice to think that such large companies are caring for the environment in that way.
