inghams, first choice and canterbury travel all do trips to Lapland ranging from 1 day to a week. The one day trips do seem very expensive but everything is included. We're planning on going for xmas 2008 so we'll be staying for a week. There is lots to do there so you wont get bored. Personally if you can stretch the budget go for a week. don't forget it's a 3 hr flight, is it worth all that just for a couple of days!!!
You are right to be doing your research now, the books for next year will come on sale any time around November and they sell out fast.

Not sure if this is helpful but we had originally planned to go at Christmas last year until we discovered that it is so much cheaper to go in February for a whole week. We used Inghams and they were really good.

Happy hunting - we are going back this year and can't wait!

theenchanted1 - why not take a tiny folding artificial tree in your baggage with your favourite ornaments, so that you can make your room seem like a home from home ... and I'm sure that you will be able to buy local ornaments to remember your stay by, that you can put on the tree in future years and think of Lapland and the adventures you had there.

Thanks

My son will be 4 next year so I think we will try to go in Dec as it adds to the magic of his christmas. I think i'll definately go for more than 1 day as it sounds very rushed. Also we stay on an island so because of the flight times we would have to stay somewhere else the night before and after.

Thanks

Hi

I have been looking at lots of different hotels but I'm still lost as to which one to choose. Which ones are the best for the santa experience? My son will only be 4 so we want to make it really special, I would like to stay in a cabin with log fire but my husband would like somewhere with an indoor pool. ( I know, you can't please everyone)

Also budget would need to come into it!

All reports and help would be appreciated as I want to book as soon as the brochures come out.

Thanks

Natalie

Hi

We stayed at the Akas Log Cabins --- basic cabin in the woods with its own sauna, log fire, small kitchenette, etc etc --- in stunning location just 100 yds away from the Akas Hotel where there is a pool. It is a stunning location and not too expensive -- the cheapest of the bunch re cabins.
Check them out in Inghams and now First Choice have them and lots of photos

I am taking my grandson to lapland on the 30th November with Santadays, Transun. We are staying in Hetta in the Jussantupa Hotel. Has anyone been to this hotel/area or with this company. As its our first trip to see Santa any feed back would be most welcome.

Just looking for a little advice really - have finally decided to book a 3 night lapland holiday with esprit to sariselka, but cannot make my mind up between two hotels, Hotel Riekonlinna or the Hotel Holiday Club. I know the second one has a swimming pool which would be nice if we had time to use it! My children will be aged 3 and 9 and really just want the best family orientated hotel.
Would really appreciate any advice!

Just wanted to say a big hello to everyone who is travelling out to Lapland in the next few months. No doubt this forum will become busier, I am just logging in for the first time in ages to see what is happening.
I shall look forward to the webcam watching for any snow (yippeeee)
Have just done a huge shop at Trespass yesterday for clothing and other bits, they had some good deals.

Hi

I have been looking at the prices fom this year to get an idea for 2008 but I'm finding it difficult to get prices from Glasgow. I don't seem to be able to go to yllas, does no one do flights to this area from glasgow? Has anyone went to lapland from Glasgow for more than 1 day? Any recommendations? Am I even more confused that I was when I started looking. I don 't know which company to go with, which area to chose? whether to stay in a cabin or hotel?

HELP PLEASE!!

Thanks

Hi Presto,

Thanks for the welcome .... did I see you over on the cruise forum earlier this year too???
We go 4 weeks today, cannot believe how quick it has all come round. Got so much to do, I don't know where to start.
Yllas is looking lovely and white ..... been peeking at the webcams.
So you returning in February???

How odd - have just been checking the site and was about to check the Yllas cams! Yip we were on the cruises too - can't make our mind up between a cruise or a Nile Cruise. We are History buffs / culture vultures so want a holiday that gives is that WOW factor. Am just checking to see if we can do a mini cruise to Jerusalem from Pafos this August!

Yip, off to Yllas in Half Term and just can not wait - we fell in love with it last year and even hubby booked to return the day after we got home! This has never been known before.

Which cruise are you on and are you back in Yllas at all?

We are back in Yllas, staying at the Villa Armas this year. Going to be strange being away over xmas as we've never done it before. Really excited, booked to go snowmobiling on Boxing Day!!
Regarding the cruise we did Oceana in April and have booked for the new ship Ventura in June next year down the Norwegian Fjords.
2 totally different holidays for us, have'nt been on a relaxing sunshine holiday for years.
Won't do Yllas again purely because I don't want it to be taken for granted (does that make sense)!!

Nice to see you back on forum

enchanted - we did the trip to Lapland all over the festive period - Xmas day we also did the snowmobile safari and husky dog ride. Once you have been there all over Xmas you will want to do it again

Thats what Christmas is all about - snow and festive atmosphere
