Thank you both . Certainly some interesting points there . Need to get my head around them before passing that on but it certainly sounds like it wouldnt be easy to make a claim for compo .

Did any of the family members also incur any other liquidaited and proveable damages such as loss of earnings? This might be recoverable under this possible claim

?

As they were due back Saturday we are only talking about the Monday for 2 of them and I suspect they will both be paid . However one nephew is a driving instructor who lost earnings on Sunday and Monday .

Thanks for the advice on the household insurance too . Never thought of that .

I am trying to find information regarding this strike. I purchased tickets on the 21st of August for departure on 23rd, but was not informed that a strike was announced. I would assume that the possibility for a strike was announced some days before it took place, but are unable to find such information. If the travel agent was aware of this, they should have informed me or offered tickets a reduced price.

I would be very greatful for any information regarding the announcement of this strike.

The strike was with the airline in question I think so it would not affect every flight.

Latest I had this morning was that after the airline were threatened with Media involvement they had suddenly managed to sort them out a flight

I think the answer lies in the above comment by Lynn - Local or unofficial possibly but the publicity could cause more harm if it got out.
