If you are staying in Sharm, and not doing any trips, you won't need a visa. However, if you are planning on doing any trips to Cairo or Luxor, you will need to get one. You can get them at Sharm airport when you land, before going through passport control and into the baggage reclaim area. There was a sign saying to pay in dollars but I'm sure they will accept Sterling -there can't by many people flying in from the UK who will have dollars on them. I can't remember how much the visa was, but it wasn't very much.

Hi Louis

I am not sure what happened to the original welcome and answer I posted :que so welcome to HT once again.
You will only require a visa if you intend to go outwith the main Red Sea area (Sinai) on excursions, if you are not leaving the area just write 'Sinai Only' on your Landing Card and go straight to immigration.

There is a full dedicated Visa topic with full information here http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=189&start=240

There is also a dedicated topic on recommended places to eat http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=21230
