At Aghios Ioannis (10 mins by small bus from town) are two very good hotels for honeymooners. The first is the Mykonos Grand (http://www.mykonosgrand.gr/), the second is the Apollonia (http://www.apollonia-resort.gr/). Rates vary of course, depending on what services you'll need. This is a beautiful part of the island that looks over to the sacred island of Delos (and UNESCO site). The sea here has vivid colours of blue due to a natural phenomenon called the Apollonia Effect. I think they area is kind of special and I am sure you guys would too. Much of the movie, Shirely Valentine was filmed at Aghios Ioannis and the small taverna that the story builds around is still there and offers great food.

In town there are a number of very good hotels but not all have a sea view which I'd recommend.

Belvedere Hotel (http://www.belvederehotel.com/)
Hotel Rochari (INVALID URL

Superb views from each of these hotels. The Belvedere is 'A' class, the Rochari 'B' class. For friendly staff and service I'd choose the Rochari. From each, it is approximately an 8 minute walk into town.

Cavo Tagoo http://www.cavotagoo.gr/
Harmony Hotel http://www.harmonyhotel.gr/

Two more town hotels but on the other side of the harbour. Cavo Tagoo is definately honeymoon territory but expensive. It's played host to many celebrities and it's views over the Aegean are stunning. It's about 15 mins stroll into town. Do not confuse this hotel with Hotel Tagoo which many people do. Hotel Tagoo is lower rated (B class, I think). The Harmony is closer to town above the actual harbour itself. A favourite of many but, personally, I think it's a bit too expensive for what's on offer.

There are a number of other hotels I could give you details of but it would help greatly if you could give me an idea of your budget per night for lodging.

Thanks Bill,

I've found broadsheet articles mentioning the Belvedere and the Grand. We're planning on staying 3 nights and budget is 250euro per night but would stretch to 300euro. Is that unreasonable for a nice hotel? From looking at the web 300euro won't get a suite or honeymoon package but we'd be happy with a room as long as the hotel overall was worth it - quality, location, views etc.

EDIT: We're planning on staying 3-5th July which is the last 3 days of mid-season in a few hotel.

WOW! Just looked at Cavo Tagoo, just within budget for a normal room and 400euro to get a private pool

We've also been told that Agios Ioannis is nice too, anything here?

Hi dai_king

Agios Ioannis (Saint John) is where both the Grande and the Apollonia resorts I mentioned earlier are located. There are two small tavernas on the beach and another restaurant further up to the small main road. There is a small store and that's about it. It is a very quiet but very beautiful area. Another hotel there is the St John which gets good reviews and it's right next to the Grand. The views to Delos from the St John will be just as spectacular. They are offering a deluxe double at 310E per night at the time you are visiting. It's address is:-

Cavo Tagoo is a beautiful hotel. Friendly staff and great services. Both Streisand and Fonda have lodged there. Its rooms are well known to be classy and I'd say perfect for honeymooners. Its standard room, although pricey, will be very nice. I've not lodged there but have visited and its location and views are superb.

One tip. If you are honeymooning mention this to whatever hotel you choose. They have a tendency sometimes to upgrade honeymooners when you arrive, at no additional cost.

The amount you mention isn't unreasonable but, unfortunately, you will be there when SOME hotels are charging premium rates.
