November 2010, hot <8hrs London, ideas wanted? Max £1500

Ive turned into a bit of a holiday snob over the years, preferring uncrowded, more idilic holidays... the last three of which were NZ/Fiju (honeymoon), and twice to the Maldives... We both work our preverbial butts off all year to be able to afford these holidays, they dont come easy by an means!

We are looking for somewhere hot, <8hrs flyining from London.. and would prefer nice white sandy uncrowded beaches, without high rise towerblock hotels overshadowing the shoreline. These reqests oretty much rule out most of Europe, particularly where heat is concerned... with most topping 20c around this time. Egypt/Tunisia is perhaps an obvious choice, which is perhaps why we are not thinking about it too much, but not ruled out comletely. Gambia is currently topping our list, but dont know anyone who has been....

Would love any other suggestions? The only requirements would be that neither of us drive, so we need things to be easy to get to, peaceful and relaxing, natural beauty, friendly, cultural, coastal.. white sandy beaches would be the icing on the cake.... We are a younh couple (31 & 38)... Would also prefer bungalow, bure, private accomodation rather than large hotels.. but I know this may be pushing it a bit!!!!!

Cape verde would seem to tick all your boxes except the bungalows instead of hotel. My niece and hubby and also friends of mine have stayed at hotels on 2 of the Cape Verde islands. Have you considered them. They have put reviews here and here

Another vote for Cape Verde. It might stretch the budget if the £1500 is for both of you, but if it's each then it would be well within budget. Also think you wouldn't find bungalows / private accomodation, but there are smaller, family run hotels available.

Or maybe Fujairah in the UAE. Less developed than Dubai, and cheaper too. Although you'd almost certainly have to compromise on the large hotel there.
