Hi Sunshiney

You don't say who "we" are but I am assuming a couple neither very young nor very old??

Are Lindos or Faliraki your only options or are you flexible. I would certainly recommend hiring a car to give you the best opportunity for seeing more of what is a beautiful Island.

Once upon a time Faliraki had an "18-30" reputation and was very loud day and night. Whilst this isn't quite so true now it is still probably the noisiest resort and the one with most clubs etc.

Lindos is fairly quiet (Except during Rhodes Rocks week) and has not really been hit by the commercialism of most tourist areas although there is plenty to do by day or night. Unfortunately Lindos does also tend to be one of the more expensive areas to stay.

I would suggest that a suitable compromise would be Pefkos - which is near to Lindos, and has a good mix of quiet beaches and nightlife.

Thank you! 'We' are mid-late 30s. And yeah - a couple. Sorry should have been clearer! My husband and I always go to Cyprus and now generally know it really well so we decided to go to Rhodes this time. Thanks for the feedback. My husband and I thought to stay somehere near Rhodes city so we could nip in an out since we hear its so beutiful and because it looks like we can't afford Lindos- but pefkos might have some nice places to stay.. will be searching for these in the hotel forum. If anyone has loved a place they stayed at in Pefkos (hotel/hotel appartment maybe) and it did not break the bank ie. within the range 70- 100 E per night for the room, please do let me know via email!
Thanks!! Can't wait.

Agree with tpebop

I found Cyprus to be expensive compared to other places within the Eurozone so would certainly not be expecting 70-100€ per night. Last year I paid 25€ per night for a room in Pefkos in late June. I personally wouldn't recommend where I stayed as there are no facilities at all, but I know there are nice places in Pefkos and some wonderful restaurants. I also spent a few nights in the Rock Cafe!!

Do checkout friendsofpefkos - but also check Pefkos on here.

:offtop tpebop - I assume it is working out over there as you have stayed (even though you wouldn't smuggle me out in your suitcase ;) )

I would also have recommended Lindos but certainly not a place for cheap beers! Pefkos might be a good compromise as it is a little cheaper and you're only a short bus/taxi ride away should you want to head into Lindos.

A budget of 70-100 is pretty high in Rhodes, you can find somewhere decent for much less and then of course you don't need to worry about the price of beer as you've boosted your spending money :cheers Trevor's 280 a month is a bit misleading though, as a resident you can obviously get a much better rate than a tourist visiting for just 7-14 days. I know when I lived on the island I paid less than £50 a week but I wouldn't expect to find anything like that for a holiday.

thank you so much! You have just saved me some big bucks! hehe
IF you would reccommend a specific place (nothing fancy but clean, safe, nice beach, nice people, ok food) I would more than truly appreciate it. Pls email. If not no worries, will research pefkos some more. For Cyprus, we stayed at this fantastic place, a little bit run down but the people were amazing, the hospitality was fantastic and it cost us 90 E per night HB. I thought this was a good deal - in August last year. They were full. We keep going back to them (in pernera near protaras and ayia napa).. but now its time to check out other places in the med!
thanks for the advice again!

€70 - €100 per night per room? :yikes

We've paid a total of £550 for 2 people for 2 weeks (last week June, 1st week July) - it has since gone up to £698 though, and that's a package.

That includes day flights from Gatwick, transfers and 14 nights accommodation in Lindos (1 bed apartment sleeps 2 - 4, not a studio).

haha.. seems we are really way off on the prices. I must say since we are not flyuing out of the UK (but from Amman) the flights are really expensive. I see there are some good offers around - better than what we were looking at after all, but still can't find anything as good as you guys suggest. Will keep looking!

Sunshiney. Have a look at this hotel in Faliraki.Prior to living here we stayed there 3 times on holiday
http://www.sunandseahotel.com
Its about 20 min.walk to Faliraki centre so away from all the noise from Bar street.
Beaches are about 10 min. walk

Hi again,

Well I've not been to Pefkos in some time but good Lindos accommodation I know of is
http://www.lindos-studios.gr/index.html Top floor rooms have the best views and good sized balcony with sunloungers
http://www.lindostreasures.com/rooms/ A very quiet spot but handy for the beaches and village centre
http://www.eratolindos.gr/ Again quite a quiet spot but close to the centre and St Paul's Bay beaches

I'd have to say Lindos, although as Marcus has said it looks like the prices are going up and drinks aren't too cheap, pretty much like for like in the UK.

Lindos is the most georgous place on Earth, I can't bring myself to recommend anywhere else.

Nice budget too. :D Although the only thing to remember is Lindos offers very basic accommodation so don't be expecting the facilities should would expect in Hotels. I guess if you were prepared to pay you could look at Melenos Hotel which are near the Acropolis, looks lovely. I booked the Villa Manolis straight opposite it which was fantastic inside, more modernised in the other accommodation I found throughout the village (booked it through Direct Greece - Now TC I Tihnk).

I could sit in that Red Rose bar all night. :cheers

I've lived in the Faliraki area for 8 years and my advice for a couple such as the original posters,in their 30's so still liking a bit of life i'd recommend Pefkos all day long,Lindos is too hot,too claustrophobic and too expensive(ridiculously so in many cases),Faliraki is now a shadow of it's former self and the hotel and apartment standards never improve, only worsen and it's massively full of Albanians and west african immigrants loitering at night, most are ok but expect there to be some that aren't! i would however recommend the water park end of town, the 'strip' of hotels as it's known, ones like the louis colossus, the esperides, the blue sea and so on,some are advertised in brochures as kalithea, which is actually a bit further along towards Rhodes town. I've got a lot of love for Faliraki and always will have, the people are fantastic, most of the bars and restaurants are brilliant but nowadays it just isn't what it once was.

The above poster tpebop mentions the amount of rent he pays and asks why the original poster wants to pay so much, what he/she isn't considering is that expats pay rent based on long term occupancy and get no facilities such as a cleaner,pool,on-site bar etc etc and that tourists will always pay a lot more due to these factors,if every visitor got their room for what we pay to rent out homes the island's economy would completely disintegrate!

As i've said i've lived there for 8 years and during this time i've lived more like a local than many ex-pats,i know the island as a whole very well,i know a lot of people all over etc so if you do want any advice on this beautiful island then please feel free to PM me!

BTW i'm in England for a break and going to Lanzarote tomorrow for a change with some of the lads, whoop!
