Visited Copenhagen for weekend break, 2nd - 4th December 2005 and thought I would post a report for the benfit of fellow members.
I can't cover everything, so if anyone has any specific questions then PM me and I shall do my best to answer.
I have used an exchange rate of approx 10 DKK = £1 were I have quoted prices.
[/b]FLIGHTS
Flew from Manchester with Snowflake - the vitual budget airline - part of SAS. £90 return inc taxes. Good service - no problems with taking a fairly large bag as hand luggage - boarding passes issued and no scramble for seats. The flight was overbooked on both legs of journey and SAS were seeking volunteers for later flights - compensation of 300 euro voucher or half cash equivalent.
COPENHAGEN AIRPORT
Decent sized airport with plenty of shops. Shops were not cheap but that was indicative of Denmark generally. They didn't operate any travellators so please bear that in mind if your gate is at the end of one of the three terminals. Excellent rail link to the city centre - costs approx £2.55 - and about 3 or 4 stops depending upon where your hotel is located. Tickets are issued by zones, so it might be useful to have an idea in which area your hotel is located so that you can buy the right ticket. It didn't seem that far and so a taxi journey may not be that expensive. They are building an extension to their metro line and the link will become even better. The train will also take you to Malmo in Sweden if you have the time for a day trip across the Oresund bridge.
HOTEL
We stayed at the Admiral hotel which I would definitely reccomend - 2 nights B & B; 2 People; 4* = £175. The building was a converted granary dateing from late 1700s; original oak beams and apparently fired upon by Nelson and the fleet in 1801! The Amalienborg Palace is 5 mins walk away and the Little Mermaid about 30 mins walk away. This hotel was 5 mins walk away from a very nice area called Nyhaven. I understand that this is an area that has been developed over the last 5 years and is a very nice area around a small dock. One side of the dock is covered by bars and retaurants and also a Christmas market. The bars had open braziers outside and would also provide chairs and blankets to keep warm, whilst you supped on mulled wine! A word of warning for any northern skinflints(like me!) - the beer/wine is not cheap!!! The cost of a normal pint of lager - Carlsberg/Tuborg - is about £4.50 a pint; a glass of white wine was dearer!! ( No doubt those southern shandy drinkers will not notice too much of a hike!)
TOURS
We used a combined bus and harbour tour that I would reccomend. It cost about £19 per adult and I think it was 50% for children. For this you got an approx 1 hour tour of the City and then changed onto a boat at Nyhaven. The boat did both sides of the river and the sights about it - you see the Little Mermaid from both the land and the sea!
Amealiborg Palace - we saw the changing of the guards at 10.00am and I think it took place later on also. It is free to walk into the Palace grounds. Please don't be as rude as a lot of tourists we saw, of all nationalities, by standing in the way of the guards as they change over.
SHOPPING
The main pedestrianised area - The Stroget - has all the major brand names and some lesser ones. It connects the two main squares;Central square at the top( from where you catch the tour buses, nr Palace hotel) and Kontens Nygorv at the botom - this square had some fantistic neo-classical buildings tatstefully decorated for Christmas and an open air ice rink for the more adventourous! There were also the usual Irish bars for those who like to keep in touch with the football. For those with an unadventourous palate I think I counted 3 McDs; a BK and a KFC along it's stretch.
We enjoyed our weekend in Copenhagen - just wanted to see some snow for complete effect and would visit again, probably in the summer, in a few years time.

Nice report Becky -so thats how i should set out mine!. lol. We also took the hydro foyle from the harbour in Copehagen to Malmo for the afternoon - at around £12 return. I assume it still operates - although that was a year or so back. Loved the eating houses around the harbour although i recall they were quite pricey.
