Jan ... as far as legal entry requirements are concerned, UK residents do not need to produce a passport for entry into Jersey. Some form of official ID should be carried, but not necessarily a passport.

However some airlines, especially budget/ticketless carriers, insist on a passport for identification or security purposes, so you may want to verify that with the airline before booking.

My daughter took her 88 yearold gran last week. They flew with BMI and just took her buspass with her photo on it. That was fine.

hi caz and dave,,now im more confused :lol: i phoned bmi yesterdayt and spoke to an irish lad he said my mother would need a passport ,,my mum too is elderly and her last passport ran out 10 years ago ,,i think i will phone again and see if i get some 1 more helpful,,thanks xxx jan

Jan ... http://www.flybmi.com are quite specific that a passport is not required for travel between Great Britain and the Channel Islands - please click here - but they do insist on some form of photo ID. Scroll to the bottom of that page to see what is acceptable.

Likewise, the http://www.bmibaby.com wing of the company also stipulates a photo ID requirement, but not necessarily a passport - please click here.

Unfortunately, I don't see a bus pass listed amongst the acceptable forms of photo ID.
