Walking distance to the Blue Dolphin Apts approx 5 mins, walk down to Qwara seafront, turn right and they are on your right hand side.
With regards booking tours there are numerous little offices all around the resort where you can book tours, care hire and change money.
Seems that your question on bus tickets has been answered but I would think that one 7 day pass would be enough for you to see everything you need to see.
Have a nice Holiday.

Thanks.

I was looking at the tour operator excursion prices and all I can say is wow.... I went with Malta Bargins last time and they were well - less than half the price of tour operator I am with now. AND they had a decent local guide as well.

Anyway is booking with any of the independent providers likely to be cheaper?

Tis Tours and Oasis tours tend to be cheaper than most places. I do know a good local guide, he is a bit dearer than others but does longer tours and fits more in to the day. You get taken to plaecs other tours don't go to. He makes sure that everyone has a great day. If you want to know more PM me for details

Just the very taxi / boat man I was thinking of Mark.

Very nice man, tells a good tale and is barking mad (in a nice way)

OK it is Tony but I didn't want to advertise on here. By the way he has just become a grandad again for the 6th time! If anyone wants to contact him I have his details

Have you used either Tis Tours or Oasis Tours before?
What would you have to say about them?
What sort of prices are the enterance fees?

Sorry about all these questions - just doing some research before I go out.

with Tis and Oasis I think that they charge 3 to 4 maltese lira for a trip, There are lots of choices of trips when you get there.

I think we used Tony as tour guide from qawra, saturday 26th march. Just wandering if it was the same Tony that was kind to my family. There was 6 of us plus a baby.
He was really helpful with my auntie being in a wheel chair.
We wanted to say thankyou for giving us a tour all over malta island.

What did he look like? My Tony is about 60, short and dumpy (unless he has lost weight!) I think he has a scar on his fore head? He is a vey kind person who goes out of his way to look after his clients.
Who ever it was I am glad you had a good time

(like ticket touts etc, places to avoid?).. does it go to sleep at lunch time etc ?

We didn't stay in Qawra Steve but passed through it a few times to drop trippers off. It's a large resort joined to Bugibba. Purpose built we heard for the British tourists.

We did pop into Bugibba one afternoon and had a walk down by the seafront and prom. Prices looked really reasonable in your area, we saw breakfasts for €3.70. Plenty of bars and restaurants, shops.

There's a casino if you like a flutter and the main bus terminus is behind the Casino. We used the weekly ticket €12.50 but we travelled around a lot. If you're just having the odd day out and about then a day ticket is €2.60. These tickets enable you to use any bus to anywhere for the duration of your ticket. Really good value :tup

We were never pestered by any touts in Bugibba, the only area we were approached by ticket touts was Sliema.

Steve, we've been going to Qawra/Bugibba area every February for about the last 6 years as we pop over to catch up with my parents when they go there on holiday.

We've stayed at the Bugibba Holiday Complex, The Topaz, Club Salina Wharf and more recently The Soreda Hotel (just a couple of streets back from the Qawra Palace Hotel).

I can only speak for what it's like in February..... But, there's plenty of bars/cafes along Tourist Street (it runs the length of where the bus station is from Bugibba and through Qawra to the seafront or as near as dammit by the Salina salt flats if you follow it all the way.

Cheapest breakfast we've seen is at The Bell Pub (just around the corner from the Soreda) at 2.50 EUR which includes a mug of tea/coffee. Over the road is the Welcome Inn and they also do breakfast at a similar price. Evening meals are from about 6 EUR up to about 10 EUR.

Local beer is Cisk (a lager type but more of a malt taste than Keo but not as dark as Leon).

Local dish is some kind of a rabbit stew which means I won't eat it! Hubby tried it in the hotel and wasn't impressed. He used to eat rabbit when he lived at home with his parents. There is a small restaurant on the same road as the Mavina Apartments but heading towards the Euroclub that advertises local dishes. I forget the name - but it's always closed for the winter when we go on hols.

Food and drink prices are generally cheaper than Cyprus prices.

Hope that helps.

We've booked all inc as this is just a ridiculous long weekend break... :yikes and its kind of "you only live once" so why not....

thanks for the help.. sounds like we should be able to find something to do, even its only being nosy.... lol

Steve, have you looked at the sticky topics at the top of this forum, places to eat and things to do? It's easy to miss the sticky topics when you are so used to reading new posts and topics.

Some of the info may be out of date, but there is a Useful Links topic which may help.

:think Steve if you are just going for a few days I would suggest that you try and get out and see a small bit more of the island even if for only one day or perhaps 2 half days. There are plenty of things to see and do however I would suggest that you stick to 1 or 2.

To make it easy and not to overwhelm you I would suggest taking the bus in to Valletta and / or taking the bus to Rabat & Mdina, you can spend just a few hours or more at either and you will get to see a bit more of the isand away from the resort.

Have a great time :tup

Hi
Ages since I was on here. Is the Palm Court (or whatever the new name for it was) still open? It was closed last year due to Leginaires (allegedley!)

We still go twice a year and last year discovered Ill Palazin Hotel (near Palm Court) really liked it but this year have booked S/C apartments near Park Lane hotel
