We rent a villa in Moraira every year, it's a lovely town, great restaurants and bars, and it has a great beach called L'Ampolla, there is also a great fun fair for the kids which is open every night during the summer. The town is about 30 to 40 minutes drive from Benidorm, or you can take the train from nearby Teulada, although the station in Benidorm is a bit out of the way from the main part of town. If you look at http://www.info-teulada-moraira.com and click on the webcam you will see the L'Ampolla beach from the martallo tower, the site also has other views of the town, plus loads of other info. We always rent using http://www.holiday-rentals.com which has a great choice of villas, the villa we rented in March was brilliant.

I have lived in Torrevieja for over 4 years so has probably changed quite a bit since you were here last. But then i suppose everyone likes different things.
