No place as such but if you aim for Bridgnorth you'll be well placed for Ironbridge.

Bridgnorth is a lovely place to stay. Severn Valley Railway, Castle Gardens, nice shops and best of all good pubs.

Avoid staying in Telford. It's not very nice.

Would agree Bridgenorth a good choice or Ironbridge itself, but would vote for Brodgenorth! Telford too modern!

Thanks for the replies, took your advice re Bridgnorth, staying at Alveley, the Mill hotel, from tomorrow. Keeping our fingers crossed re weather and hotel........

The Mill. Very nice.

The receptionist in our office works there on a weekend managing the function rooms.

You do realise you're on the Worcestershire/Shropshire border there and Shropshire is a large county. If you do venture into Gods own County (Worcestershire) then try and give Bewdley a visit. It's only just down the road.

Just back, very nice is that the best you rate it?

Exceptional - fantastic. We took advantage of the special winter rates and also got a free upgrade to a superior room.

Everything was first-class and it's in a good area for touring. We'll be back.
