You'll always get a better rate on any Greek island, so just take enough for the first couple of days. We have found Skiathos to be more expensive than Rhodes or Crete, but just as nice. Just be careful where you buy drinks as some of the places will rip you off - but the prices do apply to everybody, not just Brits. Lovely island, lovely people, great beaches and a good bus service, but avoid the last bus at night.

Yes, always a slightly better rate in Greece. Because you're travelling so early in the season you just might be able to find a space on the last bus, dont bank on it though!
