i think you would probably be hard placed to find anywhere that you could ski in october, will be to early for any decent snow fall. you need to be looking end of november/begining of december to do that. if you can change your dates why not have a look at somewhere like Andorra that is good for beginners but still pleanty of apres-ski, or maybe one of the italian ski resorts for a few days and twin it with venice or rome.
