I would allow a minimum of 2-1/2 hours between flights if you have a connection as you need to clear immigration at your first point of call in the US.

Seriously I would leave at least 3 hours between flights. We had a very bad experience in August at Chicago where it took over an hour to get through the baggage check as they "corraled" everyone behind barriers like the most popular rides at Disney. By the time we got through it the flight take off time had already passed but thank God the flight was delayed. The American Government people really make a meal out of everything I'm sorry to say .
