Have a look at Alastair Sawday's Special Places to Stay in Goa. 8)

Clck on the dots on the map to get the details.

http://www.rajangan.com looks very nice. I'd rather stay there than Tiracol Fort which I found to be vastly overrated and overpriced for what it is. Siolim House is also very nice and roughly the same price as Tiracol.

When you consider that in Edinburgh high season B&Bs are £80 for a room for 2. What you get for that price in Goa is spectacular!

The Nilaya.... if my Premium Bonds came up a few days here would be nice. One thing is for sure I rather stay at any of these 'boutique' hotels than The Intercontinental or any expensive corporate chain. (If I had the money).

Good thread this as If I get the chance a few nights of luxury at a reasonable prices is worth experiencing.

I always enjoy a visit to Colva,( I know it's like marmite love it or hate it!),
so if I was going to stay there I think this would be my choice

This is the only boutique sort of hotel I have found so far in the south.

Casa Boutique ..... beautiful! When you go upmarket in India they certainly do it remarkably well!

We stayed for a few days at the Nilaya for my hubby's 40th and can honestly say it was one of the best places I have stayed, very friendly and they couldn't do enough for you but weren't over the top. They even made a special meal for all the guests on his birthday night. The views were spectacular from the swimming pool as well.

I can't agree with BIG NEIL on that one.
We looked at Siolem House and Fort Tiracol, similar prices, same class of accommodation, but SH was to far inland and a little isolated.
Fort Tiracol was something else, rooms not as big as SH, but location was excellent, fantastic views, superb setting, our own private terrace ( we had room Friday ).
The main thing though was the peace and quiet, which unfortunately in N.Goa these days comes at a price.
