My husband and 3 children, aged 15, 1 and 8 have just returned from Cavo D'Oro. Although very basic accommodation, we had an absolutely fab time! We were bed and breakfast and I must say were disappointed by the choice in breakfast. It was continental and whilst you only expect the usual ham, cheese and rolls, there was no selection in the cereal. However, the bar staff were more than willing to cook our children breakfast for a small price to compensate. Had we have gone on self catering basis, the rooms situated in the new block are much nicer. However, our room was satifactory for the amount we paid. Maids cleaned almost daily and the lined and towels changed often. Shower just a hand held one, but soon got used to this. Entertainment in evening great in the back bar and seemed to attract non residents, which is a good sign! Receptionists helpful and friendly, as were the pool bar staff and back bar staff. Kids made very welcome and our teenage girl had a ball, playing pool everynight and selection of PCs and X.Boxes which kept them amused for an hr or so for a small price, not to mention the new Nintendo Wii which was in the pool bar. Dont bother buying the air con, i found it didnt work although i dont know if this was just ours, as nobody else seemed to have a problem. Staff were more than happy to give me a refund though after trying to solve the problem. All in all though, a great hotel for the money paid. Obviously if your are expecting 4 star luxury, then this isnt the place to go and that reflects in the price, but for those on a budget, it was clean and a great base withough being too much in the centre of all the noise.

Just come back from Cava d'oro after a 2 week holiday, we were dreading it to be honest with some of the comments we read before we went, but I must say we were really impressed, it was very clean the maid comes in every day except monday. Linen was changed every 2 days.

The reception staff were very polite and friendly, and the bar staff Akis and Yannis they were so nice and made us feel really welcome we didnt want to come home, so if you have read some bad reports take no noyice it is a great place to go, we will definitely go back.

We stayed at the Cavo d'oro June 2007 for 2 weeks and had a fabulous time, the hotel staff were so friendly we could not fault any of them, the rooms were great we had 2 ground floor studios in block G3 only one problem loads of flys.

Maggie and baz were fab, maggie was in charge of the evening entertainment and did a fantastic job, akis and yianni were really friendly and did a great job running the bar and they love children which helped as I had my 2 year old with us, Yianna and Chris who work at reception could'nt do enough for you and problems and they'd try their best to sort them out.

The cavo d'oro is in a fab location supermarket on site the hotel restaurant the roof garden serves up fab food and a lovely welcome, the beach is 5 mins walk away and the main strip is 5 mins walk in the opposite directio.

We are planning on returning in 2 years when my son is a little older. I would recommend this hotel to anyone it's fab!

We have just returned from Cavo D'oro, we thought it was great. Staff were really friendly, football mad which is good seen as we went over for the final. The room was clean, I've seen other reviews and the reason they have no shower curtain was due to the greeks believe it is more hygienic. We had a brilliant time and for what we have paid it was fantastic.

Stayed for 2 weeks in block G5 room 402.

Private balcony with surpberb sea views. Room cleaned every day except Mondays bedding and towels changed every 2 days.

Only problem with this block is we were on the top floor and it was 54 steps up. Not good when you are carrying heavy cases.

Didnt bother with pool bar as this was dead. The Cava Doro bar was brilliant, the only place to drink on a night with its bingo and quizzes all other bars at this time of year were dead. Skies and Yannis brilliant very friendly.

Beach 2 mins away and hotel in prime location. Would not recommend the pool though very busy and loud and parasols which can not be adjusted or closed, but all in all a excellant holiday location. Had a great time.

Travelled to Cavo Doro on the 3oth May 2007.

Hotel reception very friendly only problem requested adjacent rooms and ended up in two separate blocks with a two bed apartment and a three bed one. As we had three young children was upset reception told us tour operators hadn't told them and the hotel was fully booked so as only there for one week put up with it. One room was a lot better than the other both very basic but clean enough. Maids in every day towels and sheets changed every other day.

Everyone in hotel lovely and brill with children.

Pool clean, location good, resort excellent loads of great restaurants never had a bad meal Mermaids was excellent massive portions.

Weather ok but did have a day of heavy rain.

All in all a great holiday will go back.

We have found the hotel and the location of the hotel perfect in the past. we have stayed at the cava d'oro six times now. we usually go in may and then go home for two weeks and return for another two weeks. we have never had need to complain before. if you like the company of all teenagers that should be in laganas then please visit the hotel on the 28th june as this is what we had to put up with for the whole of the two week. we could not believe the difference that a month made. i would not say that the hotel receptionist was helpful as she blamed thomas cook, but she allocated the rooms and any one with any sense would not surround 62year olds with 17 if that years old. entertainment first two weeks great everyone joined in. Maggie great Akis and Yannis lovely, so is alison. this has upset me and will never return to the cave d'oro for a holiday. peaceful holiday it was not so i would not go back and stay.

We were dreading going here after reading reviews about it being damp, smelly and genuinely a bad place to stay. Well we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel after reading all of this.

The room we were first given was at the front of the hotel and overlooked one of the main streets with lots of bars and shops outside. This first room was very noisy as we could hear the supermarkets opening at 7am! Therefore we asked to be moved as couldn't sleep (when we were at reception asking to be moved there was a couple behind us saying they also wanted to be moved as their room was damp and smelly so beware!). We moved to a lovely 1 bedroom apartment (at a very small cost) at the back of the hotel behind the pool. This room was perfect! Fab views of the mountains and very quiet and peaceful. So I would recommend upgrading to an apartment before going to save disappointment as they all seemed lovely and are in the same block I think (G5) at the back of the hotel.

The rooms were cleaned daily although the pool was a bit iffy. We only spent our first day by the pool and found it to be overcrowded and the pool area and water had a distinct cheesy smell about it. Made me feel quite dirty when I got out of it and could still smell the cheesy whiff on my skin all day until I showered!

The location is fantastic being a 5 min walk from the main Kalamaki Beach and 2 min walk from the main Kalamaki strip with all the bars and restaurants.

All-in-all we had a great time. Don't think we would stay here again though. Just purely for the fact that we saw some lovely other places whilst there that we would try if we were to go back to Kalamaki.

Although the hotel is on a road it was quite peaceful, other guests were more noisy.

Everyone of the staff were friendly.

The rooms were pretty clean but very basic, we did have a fridge kettle and toaster though which we were not expecting.

Breakfast was good there were cereals, large rolls, butter, marmalade, cheese, ham and fruit juice.

As the world cup was on there wasn't much in the way of entertainment but this wasn't a problem for us at all.

We were about 5mins walk from the beach and would definitely go back again.

Just arrived back from a 2 week holiday in the Cavo D'oro!Arrived in the afternoon and was checked in quickly, was rather hard to find the room as there were so many blocks and had to carry all suitcases through the pool area! We had one of the new apartments in block G5 (room 107) which was behind the pool bar.

The room was tidy enough for what we use it for, with a kettle, toaster and fridge/freezer with 2 cooking hobs. We had a lovely terrace leading into a small garden from the living area and a balcony on the bedroom. The only disappointment was that once you take a shower the bathroom turns into a small lake as there was no shower curtain! The room was cleaned every day but for Monday with the towels and sheets changed every other day!(towels could do with a renewal however, rather shabby).

The hotel staff were all very nice and friendly, except for Harry in the pool side bar he was very unfriendly and moody (not sure if this bar was under the Ca vo D'oro management or it's own).

The Cavo'Doro bar was the place with the entertainment was in the evenings to do with the hotel. Maggie was awesome with the entertainment, really friendly and made everyone feel welcome at the hotel with the bingo quizzes and the karaoke! Alison and Akies (think that how it is spelt)were really good with the children and really friendly. The boy who worked in the bar during the day was really nice and friendly as well (can't remember the name).

The location of the hotel was good, the hotel was situated on beach the strip (as they call it out there) and Kalamaki strip was about a 5 minute walk up to it, also a bonus was it was only about a 10 minute drive in the bus from the airport (even thought so close still can't hear airport noise)

I would not visit this hotel in the next few years would wait about 10 years for the hotel to become more modern and maybe a little day time entertainment would be good.

All in all thought we did have a good holiday, however we feel w only had the room we had as we emailed the hotel before going to say that we were worried as some of the guests that we spoke to were saying how disappointed they were.
