Booked a 3* hotel, but were placed in the Albatross. Room was very damp for the time of the year. Everything felt damp including the bedding.

If I left any clothing on the balcony, this too became damp. Bathroom did not have any toiletries so had to purchase some once the shops were open on the Monday. The dustmen decided to collect rubbish at 3am in the mornings, so kept the fan on throughout the night to suppress the noises.

The holiday was booked for the half term break and considering we paid for a hotel, felt cheated. Towels were very flimsy and the bath towel was only sufficient to wrap around my head after washing my hair. Did not use the kitchen as we were half board with meals across at a nearby hotel.

Overall, very disappointed but as a self catering establishment, I would think it would be most suitable for families.

As for the reps, they were leaving the resort the week we arrived, so were not interested.

We were very disappointed with our apartment, we were supposed to be self catering but the cooking facilities were not adequate it was just 2 electric rings, no oven, no microwave, no work top space.

Could not open the balcony door because of the stray cats on the ground floor. No table for eating at. Wasn't happy being in the room facing reception, could hear everything, People checking in and out.

We will not return to these apartments again.

When we reached the hotel it seemed o.k

The rooms are very basic, we stayed in a studio apartment which really wasn't big enough for us. The cooking facilities were pretty poor. That wasn't a problem though as Big Al's downstairs is a great place to eat the prices are cheap and there's a decent menu to chose from.

Big Al had entertainment on every night but it didn't start until 11pm so if you have young children ask for a room away from the bar.

The staff are excellent very friendly and are willing to help with any problem you have.

The hotel is in a good location its about a 10 minute walk into Salou centre so it's quieter at night.

I was disappointed with this hotel, there was no air-conditioning which would not be a problem if we were on the back of the hotel, we were on the front. It had no view and it was very noisy, the hotel over the road had live entertainment until about 0100 mostly in Spanish, and it was that load you could hear it 300 meters up the road. We were about 30 meters across it, then from about 0430 you could hear people coming home from drinking so to get away from the noise we had to shut the doors and close the shutters which made the apartment very hot and we could not sleep. It would have been better if we were on the back of the hotel because they were not affected by the noise the same as we were.

Most of the staff speak very good English, and are mostly very helpful which was just as well because the Thomson rep was useless. They would give us directions to stuff and tell us road names for things that we wanted to visit in Barcelona which is about 60 miles away.

The apartment was not the cleanest, the kitchen was minging and we had to wash all the dishes when we arrived, there was a lot of dust in areas like under the beds. The cleaners didn't do the best job and it was a hassle to get clean sheets off them, they would only give us one toilet room between 6.

Big Als bistro sells good food at good prices and the menu has quit a lot to offer, the staff in there are really helpful they recommended places for us to visit and got us vouchers for money off Port Aventura.

The hotel has its own parking however it costs 10 euros a day, but you can park round the back of the hotel for free, white boxes are free parking, blue boxes are pay and display and yellow is no parking.

There are safe deposit boxes that can be rented in reception which are very secure but they are not the biggest.

It would have been better if we were on the back of the hotel because they were not affected by the noise the same as we were, so if you stay here make sure you ask for a sea view before you leave and you should be ok.

The cleaners didnt do the best job, just made the beds and emptied the bins and it was a hassle to get clean sheets off them, they would only give us one toilet roll between 6 which was very poor when the cleaners sometimes didnt come back for 3-4 days.

Big Als bistro sells good food at good prices and the menu has quit a lot to offer though it is british food not spanish. The drinks in there are twice the price that they are everywhere else. There is a small beach just behind the hotel which would have been really nice except that there is rubbish on there mostly butt-ends but they are everywhere.

The Albatros was a fantastic place for us the only thing was the hills to the apartment it did get on my nerves but it did state in the brochure not for the less mobile person.

The staff were fantastic to very helpful indeed and the bistro also good but not much choice of meals though. My children loved it even the pool which could do with a little heating as it was very cold indeed.

Entertainment could have been on a little earlier as some children were quite young and last but not least the apartment was very clean indeed and always seemed to be clean and tidy when the maid service had been in to our room.

We will definately be back next year.

The hotel was very nice indeed. The only problem was the walk to the pool, when you had to step foot into the dank, dark bistro. A working man's club/bingo hall. I couldn't bare the outdated decor and the fact that I chose a holiday in Spain and the most Spanish dish on the menu was Steak Chips and Peas.

Having young childen, the entertainment was a disgrace, parental discretion required? I was also informed by the DJ that my children would tell me what the swear words meant. what was to follow I cannot even repeat. If you have young children or have a palate that stretches further than Dover then the Bistro is not for you.

After reading some of the reports on the Albatros Apartments we were left with some doubts about our holiday, however after arriving in Salou these changed.

The location is hilly and you do get fed up with walking up and down it but the view from our balcony was breathtaking. The balcony was huge as we had a 2 bedroomed apartment.

The only faults I could find with the apartment was the shower, the water went everywhere as the showers leaked and the toilets didn't flush sometimes. Another fault although this wasn't't the hotels fault was the fact that some parents didn't care what their children were up too and 3 times in a row we were kept awake until 5am in the morning while some kids were playing out and trying to fire BB pellets at the local stray cats, shouting and trying to jump down several flights of stairs, while their parents were getting drunk.

Beach is lovely though you do have to walk down flights of steps to get to it.

Big Al's Bistro is great and we would say about the cheapest in the resort especially when you have a family to feed.
Reception staff ok and seemed friendly enough for me

My Family. Me, my mum, dad and 2 sisters visited this hotel in July 05 .

It was really good; the location of this hotel was great surrounded by quite a lot of entertainment.

Across from the hotel we had like our own private beach, it was just great for us.
