Hi mackenzie

Sorry you didn't receive a response to your first enquiry. The Princess line doesn't appear to be popular with our members.

If you let us know your ports of call we may be able to assist with some advice.

Hi,
Did our first cruises with them around the Caribbean and also from Southampton to the Baltic Capitals and were very happy with the standard.
There are consumer reviews of Princess cruises at

Wasn't it Princess Cruises that ran 'The Love Boat' - or are you too young to have watched it?

You will have a fantastic cruise with Princess
Princess seem to achieve a friendlier more relaxed atmosphere than P&O,
particularly when there is a good sprinkling of Brits on board.
Service is first class, nothing is too much trouble for the excellent waiters and cabin stewards
We took a Med. Cruise Venice/Barcelona on the Golden Princess.
We thought maybe the ship would be too large and unwelcoming
We worried unnecessarily.
Externally the Grand class ships are not the most attractive, however, once aboard they are splendid ships to cruise on. There is nothing intimidating about the ship once you get inside, and none of the rooms or public spaces seems particularly vast or overwhelming. Princess claims that the ship was designed to give a "small ship feel", and they have at least partially succeeded in creating a more intimate vessel. There are a lot of "nooks and crannies" on the ship where one may sit and read, chat with a friend, or have a drink
Although the ship was full to capacity, it never appeared crowded. It was an efficient happy ship; reflected in the quality of service we received.
Good news for the 700 plus Brits onboard draught larger was available.
We are cruising in the Med. on the Star Princess soon.

Bryan,

Princess cruises are a 4 - 5 star product. They are a lot more glitzy than my travel and Thomsons, and also more expensive.

Princess is the American side of P&O, so not as "British".

I would book Proncess tomrrow if time would allow....

Hi Bryan

Unfortunately we only have one topic about Princess cruises Here. There is a link within that topic to reviews on the Ship Happens site.

We would be delighted if you would like to write a review of your cruise on the Sea Princess on your return in December. Hope you have a great cruise!

Hi Bryan

Which itinerary are you doing and which ports will you be visiting? Someone may be able to help you with info on these.

Apart from that, we are more than willing to get caught up in the pre-cruise excitement with you!

More info on princess available on http://boards.cruisecritic.com/, I must say the reviews on the personal choice dining on some princess ships sounds great. sort of NCL freestyle done properly.

Princess is on my to do list.
I think drinks are more american prices than P&O prices though.

All in all a good choice me thinks.

Looking forward to the review.

hi again
thanks for the links folks they made good reading
the cruise we are going on is the caribbean treasures on the sun princess
and the ports are as follows
Fort Luaderdale
St Vincent
Grenada
St Lucia
Martiniqe
St Thomas
Princess Cays
if anyone has been to any of these places and can recomend excursions or things to do or see that would be ideal
thanks

I have been to Grenada (known as Spice Island) and it has a great beach called Grand Anse just across the water from where you dock. You can get a water taxi and come backwards and forwards all day although the beach was very crowded in the afternoon. There are a few bars on the beach as well.

Not sure how badly Grenada has been hit by the hurricane although I should imagine things will be back up and running by then.

I never did any specific trips myself and there didn't seem a whole lot to do where you dock except head for the beach.

If you want to purchase any spices there are stalls there selling them and the usual trinkets and gifts etc.

Have a great time!

Hi windjammer, another question.

Does that mean they are cheaper rather than more expensive? We found the drinks prices on Orient Lines Marco Polo prohibitive. A can of local, US, beer was about $5 and imported, UK, was $8. I think spirits with a mixer were about £4.50.

We don't drink much, but I still don't like to be ripped off on the little we do drink!

Sorry again,
P&O are know for value in the drinks department and the US ships tend to be more expensive, I think Princess are in the more expensive catagory but this is from memory of reviews rather than first hand. probably not as bad as Orient.

I like a brew or two but look out for specials hoping for some on the SUn to stock up hte fridge, wine on the other hand does add up but I just spend about the same and have less if it costs too much.
We have a rough budget for trips, drinks, casino spend more in one area cut back in another.

It is always worth searching the cruise lines web sites for Drink lists.

http://www.princess.com/onboard/sendagift/liquor.html
is a gift price list which should reflect prices onboard
