Depends on if you are happy with B & B. This year at the Crowne Plaza, I booked 2 twins for Me, Hub and two children similar ages to yours.

I emailed and asked for quiet rooms next to each other, but didn't mention connecting as portlands web-site didn't state that they had them.

I was delighted when I arrived to find not only were they next to each other they were connecting as well. :D I didn't pay any supplement for this, and in effect I had accommodation that could sleep 8 people, i.e. 4 double beds. My kids were delighted.

Yes... I know one... the hotel only has suites consisting of a bedroom and a sitting room each of which has a seperate entrance, bathroom, TV, AC, telephone, balcony or terrace, and a connecting door. The sitting room has two large sofas which are actually full size ( i.e. 100 x 200 cm ) beds and which are turned into beds when the house-keeping do the turn-down service whilst you have your dinner.

The resort has its own large pool, spacious grounds and a superb sandy beach that also has excellent snorkelling.

The hotel is in Nuweiba which is served by Sharm and Taba Airports.

But Swiss, she asked for one that didn't advertise this in the brochure - and Longwood's brochure page clearly points out the excellent room facilities at the Swisscare hotel.

PS - in Nuweiba the Coral Hilton also has interconnecting rooms.

Yes there are not many brochures that advertise it (or websites for that matter) at any destination, not just Red Sea area.

I would prefer all inclusive, we have done it before and it does not stop us going outside of the hotel to use local restuarants etc - we have never got trapped by the "must stay here, we have paid for it" mentality!

We are interested in all of the red sea area I suppose especially Marsa Alam as we all love to snorkal and I think my partner would take the opportunity to learn to dive over there. Possibley!

IMHO only. I think most 5* hotels have some interconnecting rooms, package holiday brochures just don't bother giving details. Might be worth choosing a few you like the look of and sending off some emails.

Alternatively pick up a specialist Egypt brochure, like Longwoods that goes into more detail about room types than the likes of First Choice, Airtours et al.

If your partner wants to do the PADI open water course then once again Nuweiba is ideal. African Divers Nuweiba is run by a British - German couple and is very good indeed. http://www.africandiversnuweiba.com

They also do not cater to the masses - unlike the larger destinations - but serve mainly individuals. This is much better if learning to dive. Close to the dive centre are some excellent dive sites that are particulary good for beginners.

And its not far from me !

P S On my website are the restaurant and bar prices. In most cases it does work out cheaper than all inclusive. And it is so much nicer to have your own bottle of beer, can of pepsi and bottle of wine as opposed to drinking open drinks.

We went to Three Corners Three Georges, Sharm, all inclusive and they have rooms with interconnecting doors. We had room 1007, ground floor facing the pool. Rooms are huge.

My problem is, we would like to take my mother in law with us on a 2 week AI holiday to Sharm, in a really lovely hotel... EXCEPT that I don't want to have to share our room with her  for quite obvious reasons!

Does anyone know of a good standard 4 star hotel that does interconnecting rooms, or a 2 bed apartment that is all inclusive?

Thanks in advance xx

Hi, we are a family of 5 wishing to holiday in Sharm. Whilst I am able to price up hotels on the internet with family rooms suitable for 5, I can't price up hotels with interconnecting rooms. I know they exist but there never seems to be an option to select 'interconnecting' from the room options!

Does anyone know of a site that I can do this on or do I really have to phone for a quote each time?

Thanks!

Hi Sarah,

Can reccommend the Sunrise Royal Makadi Bay (30 mins from Hurghada) through Thomas Cook.

They completed a new family block last March/April which have interconnecting rooms with, I believe have two bathrooms. Haven't seem inside them myself, but apparently they are huge inside.

We have been twice and wouldn't hesitate to go back ..... great hotel!

regards,
Pat
