hmm..ilive in Alanya..and i certainly wouldnt have gone to the beach today...of course first thing it was a bit bright ..but by afternoon it was overcast..yesterday we had a huge storm...everything was blown off the balcony
but its usual at this time of the year..its not cold now..about 17 day time..and 10 12 at night...but its changeable until May..and before somebody contradicts me i have lived here since the early '90s..so know how the weather can be.
as for İcmeler being better than Alanya..its horses for courses..except that alanya is a living town all year round..and its big..you need time to get around everywhere..and get a feel for the place...its really great.

Alanya is just lovely!!!!!
The only people I can imagine comparing Alanya and Icmeler, and coming to the conclusion that Icmeler is the better resort, CANNOT POSSIBLY HAVE STAYED IN ALANYA!
This is probably the best resort on the entire Med. Even better due to the small number of English Visitors!
Go on Give It A Try - You Won't Be Disappointed.

i have to agree with Luddenturk..Alanya is great..the best cosmopolitan resort on the Med.
its large clean modern ..gets better every year..there are actually 10,000 europeans now living in Alanya..its a great mix..never any trouble..and no gangs of drunken brits looking for fish and chip shops or british food..
Alanya is backed by a huge mountain range and has numerous rivers entering the sea all the way along the coast...life on the rivers..especially the Dim Cay has to be experienced to be believed..its truly paradise

I didnt intend to upset those people living in Alanya, just expressing an opinion sounded by someone there at present,I am sure Alanya is lovely place
Ah. Shirley, you do pop up in the most unexpected places.Of course Alanya is a great place BUT-----------------------------Not as good as Antalya.

alanya is very touristic..very cosmopolitan...there's a sprawling selcuk castle on a rocky peninsula that juts out into the Med..the views from the top are said to be the best in the whole of the mediterranean coast.
the town is busy all year round..there are three cinemas..a large aqua park in the town centre..tennis courts too.the harbour area is where the night life is..and its there for all ages.
because there is such a mix you never get groups of nationalities taking over with their own brand of misbehaviour...if you know what i mean.
Best of all in this area is the paradise thats called the Dimcay river...this is a long river shallow in parts with deep pools for diving into.there are restaurants along the length offering cheap meals and you can eat ottoman style on cushioned rafts or up in a tree house or just at a table with your feet in the water..bliss on a hot day.
