I'm doing both of the above at present and have been living and working in Cyprus since March 2004.

We haven't been back to the UK in all that time either although we have taken holidays off the island a number of times (well, every year and more often than not - twice a year).

I've been living and working on the Costa Blanca since 2005. Wouldn't go back to live in the UK. We both work in tourism so pretty busy just now working 15 hour days 7 days a week. Pop back to the UK 3 or 4 times a year to see family and get 4 weeks off from 1st Monday of November. Travelled to Thailand a couple of years ago and Sharm last year. This year closer to home in Gran Canaria and then the big one in 2013: Philippines, Bali and Australia.........

I lived in Germany for 2 years in the 60s when my husband was stationed in the Army there.
We lived in Fallingbostel,Celle and Minden which are all beautiful medieval towns
It was the best 2 years of my life and we went back 5 years ago and took our son and daughter who was born there.
It was more beautiful than we remembered and hope to visit again soon.

I lived in Turkey for nearly 3 years, I never worked there though as my daughter was just a baby. It was a wonderful experience and I am so glad I had the chance to do it, it is such a good thing to live in and learn about another culture and Turkey is such an amazing country.

Never lived abroad as an adult, but as a child, due to my dad being in the Army, I lived in various locations throughout Germany.

I went to school in France for a term when I was fifteen. A very interesting experience which was both my first trip abroad and the first time I had been away from home for any length of time. I lived with a french/belgian family and during this time I was introduced to good french coffee to which I've stayed faithful.
When I was twenty one I spent the summer bumming around the Greek Islands, though that wasn't really living abroad but did give me a bit of an insight into the greek way of life.
For the last 41years I have lived in Germany. OH and I came here originally for a few months which stretched to a year and then another and all of a sudden we are still here and enjoying our retirement.

Was posted to RAF Akrotiri in 1974, just as the troubles were cooling off and was there until 1976. At present i've been living in Turkey since last September but mainly due to ill health and other issues, I will be returning to the UK this September.

We used to miss Holland's pies and steak and kidney puddings but now there's an outlet called Chilly's that sells 'em - hence the reason why we haven't been back to UK since we left in March 2004.

So if it hadn't have been for Chilly's you'd have popped home for a pie

Yep, I've lived and worked in Lanzarote for the past 20 years! Not that I work now, I retired, for the second time, last September During my time here I have had a few jobs, like cleaning, supermarket worker, bar staff and kitchen staff. Mainly though I spent a lot of time being a holiday rep which I loved.

Before that I lived in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, where I didn't work, but was a stay at home mum with young children.

Yep, I'm happy with my lot! What do I miss from UK? Probably the range of goods you can buy in supermarkets in UK - I get very excited when I visit UK about all the ready made meals that can be bought I can spend hours and hours in a supermarket

Earlier this year a Pork Shop opened here and so we've now got Pork joints, chops, gammon steaks, sausage and bacon and it is all good quality. In the general area there are ex-pat ladies who make jams(jam from the shops here tends to be very runny), marmalade, sausage rolls, various pies, pasties and scotch eggs. One lady in particular makes pork pies and they are better than what you buy in the UK !!

We have missed some of the convenience foods and were even green with envy watching the uk tv adverts for party foods in the build up to xmas. Even now, there's the All Bran Golden Crunch advert as well as the Golden Syrup Weetabix, silly things really. Every day commodities we've found to be expensive as are cars and petrol, the only things that are cheap are the fruit and vegetables. Eating out, we do this once or twice a week to give the wife a break, having said that, with the hot weather we're experiencing we're having more salad orientated stuff.

Their taste is quite unique.... We've had many "pie people" open up here but nothing tastes quite like a Holland's to us Lancashire folk.

My husbands sister used to sell her pies when they were living in Paphos and very nice they were too, but - they still weren't Holland's! I love the steak and kidney puddings. They take ages to cook but are worth the wait, especially with chips, peas and gravy!

Even in our 40C summer temperatures, my eyes will light up if hubby says we're having pudding and chips for tea!

No I haven't had a Holland's pie but will keep my eye's out for them in the supermarkets (if they sell them ) Hubby might appreciate one as he's a 'pie man'
