Hey, weve got the best restuarants nailed down.....but lets be more specific , I'm a Biryani addict, would probs eat it everyday if i could..well not quite...but you know what i mean...anyone had a good (or bad!) biryani.and where???

The best biriyani I've had in Goa so far is the prawn biriyani at Curly's on south anjuna beach. The place has a hippie vibe and is popular with younger travellers and backpackers.

Redonda in Calangute. Best biryani Ive ever had
martin , is Redonda the one near the Baga rd on the corner almost opposite the tibetan market on the same rd as the rock cafe? I have a feeling that is the place you are talking about , I have been there a couple of times but only for breakfast.
redonda is at the roundabout as you go on the baga rd. if you come down calangute high st, get to the roundabout, and it is on your left.
Thanks Martin, that is the place I was thinking of, just my description of the location is rubbish, it's a great place for people watching , must try an evening meal there next time we are in Goa.
Hyderabadi Biryani is the best. No one can make biryanis like the Hyderabadis... Is there a place in Goa where they have Hyderabadi Biryani.... ?

Try The Rajashahi in Panjim (opposite Police Headquarters) very good biryani and kebabs
Redonda has good service and is clean. Got friendly with Prakash one of the waiters.
Unfortunately all the curries were bland and had no 'bite'. I'm not one for over the top over chilified food just good and tasty and I'm happy.
After a few times eating there I had to tell Prakash to tell the chef to add a little more ginger or something to give the food that little bit edge. Disappointing.

Even though its vegetarian, the Hyderabadi Biryani at Plantain Leaf in Calangute market is hard to beat.
It's hard to beat Indian vegetarian food full stop.

Do they serve Biryani with Raita (yoghurt with finely chopped onions, roasted cumin seeds & cucumber) and Mirchi Ka Saalan (standard gravy with big green chillies) to go with it....
For those who can't stand the rich spices of Biryanis .... the opposite of Biryani could be Kashmiri Pulao....
