Bini/Binni. what does it mean?

Ok.... I've thought about it long enough. I've tried online dictionaries and good old babelfish, without success. Google searches have not solved my curiosity.
In both Mallorca and Menorca (particularly Menorca) I have noticed so many towns/villages beginning with Bini or Binni. What is the meaning and /or the origin of this. Does it mean village in the same way as xxxxxxTON in english means town???

It is thought to be from the Moorish for "son of"

There is also a Binissalem in Mallorca

ah well, I think he actually googled binissalem...I coudn't find anything about bini in our guide books...(you'd think they would know!!)

we've never been to the vineyards...but we have quaffed some Franka Roja :wink:
