I don't know any of these sites but having had many holidays with Canvas I am confident that they will be of a high standard and enjoyable.

Thanks, do you tend to go to one site or to multi-sites?

In particular I am interested in hearing about whether moving from site/site is hassle... and whether people think with young kids its better to drive longer/stay longer or split the holiday into shorter drives and more sites....

Hi, we have been holidaying under canvas for a few years now. With Keycamp and Eurocamp, only this year did we decide to have a stopover and to be honest it was more hassle than it was worth. However it's up to you!! The further south you go generally the better the weather we've found. Maybe you should think of traveling a bit further south with a stopover?? :)

We have nearly always done multi stops with Canvas. We avoid overnights as 1) they are expensive and 2) you get 2 days on the trot on the road. Canvas allow a 3 night stop minimum which gives you 2 days to get over the first journey and see a bit of the area before setting off again. We are lucky in that being teachers we can have more than the usual 2 weeks. We have in the past done a 6 week, 5 site trip.

The only time we did a 1 site holiday we travelled to Spain. Stopped twice on the way down at Formule 1 hotels and the same on the way back. Far easier than stopping overnight in a tent in my opinion.

Whatever you choose I'm sure you will enjoy it.

By Pierrefitte guess you mean Parc Des Alicourts? Went there last year for an overnight stop on the way to and from Vias (on the med). To be honest its an impressive site with top facilities and a fab lakeside setting, problem is the pool is far too small for the site (including the wave machine), and more importantly the site itself is miles from anywhere.

Would recommend it for a short stopover but not as a base for a holiday. One or two days would be more than enough for me!!
