The 2 discount airlines in Aust. are Virginblue and jetstar. Visit their websites as they regularly offer fantastic discounts for travel within Aust. We Aussies love the prices!! Jetstar would be my 2nd choice as you are not allocted any seating at the time of booking so its a run to the plane for the best seats, but hey, its a no frills airline, so is Virginblue for that matter!!
