Couldn't go on our trip to Cork today as I developed quite bad ear ache yesterday and thought it best not to fly as it would probably have been very painful. Will try and get there again sometime - probably stay overnight next time. Shame we missed out but that's the way things go sometimes and at least we didn't lose too much money in the process.

Four of us are planning a trip to Cork in October, can anyone recommend any nice B&B's in the city centre, we are only going for a couple of days, and won;t have a car. So we'd like to be central to everything for our first visit.

                Hi,
I've just came back from Cork!
I have to say, I'm really impressed. I didnt axpect such pleasent place. It has a bit Italian style in some places! Very nice "old town" on the higher side of a river.
I was lucky, the weather was great - 26 degrees and blue skye.

Just interested as to what there is to do once we dock at this port at the end of August on a cruise. We shall be there on an overnight stop.

We stayed at Kinsale just before Christmas and had a day in Cork. Nice City and there is a tour bus that covers anything of major interest. Shops were tha same as an English town centre.
You can venture to Blarney and "kiss the Stone" if you are feeling adventurous!!!

Thankyou Becky for that info. Roughly how long is the tour bus ride please?

Just a point, you need to check where exactly the ship is docking. I'm guessing it will be at Cobh and not Cork City in which case you will need to find your way into the city if not on an organised tour from the ship. This might be useful http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/printed_timetable_pdfs/2009/Mallow%20Cobh%2009.pdf
