Moroccan Dirhams can only be obtained in Morocco. Foreign currencies and traveller's cheques can be exchanged at official bureaux de change only (identified by a golden sign); changing money in the street is illegal. There is no commission charge and visitors will be issued with a receipt which they must keep in order to exchange Moroccan currency back into the original national currency upon departure.
Any Dirhams left over at the end of your holiday must be changed backed into sterling !

Thanks cuteypie :tup

Do you know about having to take new or clean notes?
Reply
never heard of that one before, can't see them not accepting dirty notes. personally I wouldn't take too much - there are plenty of cashpoints around.

its best to take clean notes. I was once there and they question the authenticity of some of my notes. well if you go to a cash machine in the uk and take cash out first before you go there, then the notes will be cleaner, i guess. alternatively, if you have dirty notes then deposit them at your bank first then withdraw the cash and take it to morocco.

There are plenty of cash machines, but be aware of the charges
