Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi
easyjet have released some of their flights from Liverpool up until June 2010, I have just booked my flights to Mallorca for next May Whit bank holiday week, not as cheap as last year, :( but at least no panic now Oct or Nov, when they're ususally released. :D

Belfast-Stansted only available up to 27th March. Not fair that Belfast flights are always last to be released. Belfast is part of UK, correct geographical title is United Kingdom of Great Britain AND Northern Ireland.

Hi cate .. I don't think the timing of the release of seats is anything to do with Belfast or its geographical location. Some routes to/from Belfast have already been released up to June 2010. The fact that Belfast/Stansted is not yet available is more to do with the fact that many routes to/from London (as well as some Scottish airports) are still to be released.

madsaf,

Welcome onboard :tup
Please supply flight numbers when you can as there are often several flights. EMA-FAO-EMA (EZY6551/2) are operated by an Airbus A319-100. You'll find further aircraft details on our What Aircraft? guide and onboard catering on Easyjets website.

Thanks David, so it's more likely that flights from Stansted haven't been released yet. Would easyjet release all flights from stansted at the same time or do they do it a few at a time in which case I suspect Belfast would be among the last? thing is I'd want to get the flights booked early but then if we haven't decided names, how easy is it to book flights with 'infant' in the names box at boooking and then change once we know what their names are? How much do they charge?

We returned yesterday from Dalaman and were not impressed by our experience with the special assistance boarding there. At Gatwick, on departure, everything was well organised and we were called immediately after the Speedy Boarders. At Dalaman, however, it was basically a free for all and although those with speedy boarding and those who needed special assistance tried to get to the front of the pushing and shoving masses, it was impossible and the staff eventually just let everyone board. My autistic daughter, who finds the whole boarding thing a challenge at the best of times, was injured as she was elbowed out of the way by some ignorant oaf who obviously wanted a good seat despite waving a group B boarding card - he managed to board before any of the speedy boarders and got exit seats. I hope he sleeps well at night :( My daughter boarded the aircraft upset yet the aircrew couldn't have cared less. Unfortunately I have more Eastjet seats to Dalaman booked for 2 weeks time but these will be the last ones until they sort out the boarding at overseas airports.

cazzholly, sorry to hear about your experience. I'd email Easyjet and complain about that. I've worked with children who have special needs before and that has included children with Autism. It might not be all foreign airports, from what I've read some do enforce the speedy boarders, special assistance, group A and the group B sequence for boarding. Not sure how it works if you're bussed to plane or if gate to plane is via airbridge.

Hi, Sorry to hear your daughter suffered at Dalaman, we came back on an easyjet flight from there in June and they did it ok with children and assisted people first, then A then B, so hopefully your next flight willbe ok must be which staff you get.

Thanks for your sympathies cate and lady. Fortunately our flight in a couple of weeks time will just be my husband and I travelling so we're not bothered how quickly we board or where we sit so no problems there, but I won't be risking the frenzied boarding again with Easyjet if we're travelling with my daughter, it's just too upsetting for her. We've travelled with Easyjet on numerous occasions as a couple but try to avoid them when travelling as a family because we have had similar experiences before but I spoke to them before we flew and were assured that by them putting our booking as requiring special assistance we wouldn't have any problems. I appreciate Easyjet don't oversee the boarding arrangements overseas themselves so I can't see any point in complaining about the service. Maybe we were just unlucky on this occasion, usually the passengers form something of a queue and wait patiently but on Monday it was like being in a pack of animals! If I'd have booked speedy boarding, I would have been very disappointed as people who had paid to board first weren't able to fight their way to the front and I think the staff decided to let everyone board as they couldn't control the queue. In future I'll use Easyjet to get to Dalaman when it's just the two of us travelling but when going as a family I think we'll play safe and use an airline with allocated seats!

I am a bit worried this will happen when we come back from Bodrum as we have two young children. We are off tomorrow so I will let everyone knows what happens when we get back. I am not bothered where we sit, I just don't want my children to pushed around by idiots :yikes

This is one of the reasons that I try and avoid flying with any airline that does not allocate seats. Unfortunately due to BA cancelling our Malta flights in January we will be travelling EJ.

Whilst some of the problems lie with the boarding procedure not being implemented correctly at the gate a lot of the trouble must be blamed on the sheer ignorance and rudeness of a small minority of passengers who seem to believe that they have the right to board before everyone else and never mind the consequences.

On my first flight with EJ I was using crutches - whilst most passengers allowed me through in front of them there were a few who seemed to not see my crutches and almost caused me to have another accident. Believe me, if they didn't see them then they probably felt them - very useful they were!!!

I think until a small minority of the Great British Public learn some manners and respect then we will continue to have this problem.

We are traveling with easyjet and have just measured my hand luggage and it is 23cm instead of 20cm all the rest of the measurements are under so do you think the 3cm will be a problem. I wish the hand luggage was standard on each airline. We are now getting a collection of different sizes.

I agree with your sentiments, however in easyjet's defence I have seen boarding staff (in the UK but also in Spain) put some of these people firmly in their place, by definitely not allowing them to board with the Speedy boarders.

However i will always choose BMI Baby/Monarch/Thomson etc over Easy/Ryanair even if the cost is somewhat higher.

The whole unallocated seating thing really does bring out the very worst in people.

Leyland Lass, if your hand luggage is over on 1 but under on the other 2, then you might be ok. Just to be safe though, I'd pack so that the 23cms can squash down to the 20. Just after the maximum size was put back up to 55x40x20cms (Ryanair) I used a sports holdall which is 46lx26dx23h. When I got to Dublin, I found an empty check in desk for different airline who had similar dimensions to Ryan Air (depth still 20cms and it fitted, at Stansted on return the bag fitted both Ryan Air's and the Airports gauges. I did have to turn the bag so that once in the box, the 23cms was the front to back. I'd packed breakable stuff to allow for this. In my experience of flying in recent years, common sense seems to have prevailed so if your bag is within the 55x40x20 overall then it hasn't mattered if my bag has been slightly over on 1 dimension.

Wasn't with Easyjet but I had no problems using 35l rucksack for hand luggage which is 50hx45wx20d empty (Under on height, over on width, on maximum for depth). I was careful not to put too much in the side pockets just in case anyone wanted to measure it which wouldn't have surprised me. Airports used were Dublin and Stansted.

With boarding, in my experience Easyjet have been strict about boarding people in proper sequence, that's at Belfast (to be avoided if possible, see my posts in hand luggage), Stansted and Copenhagen.

Three 15 hour strikes have been called by Easyjet groundworkers in Palma, Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante

The strikes will take place on August 15, 22 and 29th

Strikes will affect all flights with Malaga expecting disruption to 34 flights

Hi,
Just found out about these strikes, and we will be affected as we are flying from Manchester to Malaga on Saturday 29th Aug. I wonder if there is any way I can find out where our flight is coming in from to try and ascertain if it is likely to be late into Manchester. It's flight 1923 leaving at 07:05.
If anyone can help I'd be very grateful.

On line check in help please - travelling with hand luggage only for the first time with Easyjet - the web page says on line check in can be done 60 days in advance. Do you check in for both the outward and return flights at the same time or is it only for the outward flight please? Just thinking that the return flight will be 74 days in advance if I do the outward one at 60 days. Does anyone know if it it states A or B boarding on the printout boarding cards.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Jean

Hi Carolineb23,
Malaga will be the aircraft's first flight of the day, as the easyjet A320 only do two flights each per day.. so after the aircraft has arrived back at manchester it will be going off to another destination..
hope this helps

Sarah.
