We went in February last year to Kotu beach. The area was OK for us a few bars and restaurants, and entertainment in the hotel - Kombo Beach. The communal facilities in the hotel were good, but the room was pretty jaded, and from what I read this is quite common in the Gambia. Don't expect a four of five star place to match our ratings, not sure I'd want to take the risk of AI in the Gambi
We are going again in March but this time have chosen Luigi Apartments which are owned by an Italian and his English wife, and we are hoping from what we read, the standards will be a lot higher.
We are within a five minute taxi ride of the Senegambia strip, which is the main area. We didn't go there last year so cannot comment on whether we like it.
