Well, now I am responding to my own post, but simply to let you all know that I have taken the plunge and booked a week in a 1 bed pool villa in April, and will submit a review once I have been!
Everything I could find on the internet was v favourable - I hope I will be able to confirm how fab it is soon!

We are hoping to get to Jimbaran for one of its famous seafood restuarants. Any recommendations would be very welcome
