Let me explain the problem. I have just gone online to book our 2 week holiday to Marsa Alam, Southern Red Sea, to find that that the hotel we decided on (Calimera Habbiba ) after much discussion a couple of nights ago isn't now available - several others were which are in the same area which indicated that the flights were available. Thought it was something I was doing wrong so rang Thomas Cook to be told "sorry but the Calimera Habbiba, Kahramana and the Almyra hotels are not now listed for this date of departure (25/7)". Shock horror! I am sure that Thomas Cook must have a problem with their system as 2 nights ago I could take my pick of any type of room at any of these 3 hotels. We wanted to upgrade to a deluxe/ superior room and this hotel offers unique accommodation (individual units of 4 "flats" in a unit in a "village" traditional stone built style). These 3 hotels are on the same complex (but of different standards and facilities) and are huge so I cant believe that all 3 are now full from 25/7 - 8/8/07. The delay in booking was getting my time off work authorised.
We stayed at the Kahramana in July 06 and had the best ever diving/ snorkeling experiences (pristine coral, Hammerhead sharks, White tip reef sharks, numerous turtles, Rays, swimming with 20 -30 dolphins in the wild on 2 days for hours, and seeing a Dugong in very shallow water.....)and really want to go back but this time to the Calimera Habbiba (the better hotel as 4/5 * AI) and again dive with Pioneer Divers on site.
I am now upset that I don't appear to be able to get what we wanted & I need your help please in recommending somewhere you loved enough that you would go back to.
Let me tell you a little about us so you know what we would like. We are 35 & 38. No kids. Want to escape from it all for relaxation and peace. It must be very hot & sunny. Don't want nightlife. Would like All Inclusive. A beautiful beach. Must have a dive company on site. Don't want any trips out of hotel so don't mind if isolated. Want high standard accommodation preferably in small units of rooms rather than multi level main building (s) as I don't dive and this is my "compensation" for letting Mr Whistler fit in approx 20 dives in 14 days without a single word of compliant from me about being left alone for the majority of the holiday . We DON'T want to go to Sharm. We have been to the Coral Hilton at Nuweiba and personally loved Marsa Alam more hence my desperation to return there. Max flight 5 - 5 1/2hours so long haul is a no no. Max total budget £1800.
