Paul, Just Double check your insurance .Thing happen out of your control.

Most important - make sure the horn works!
Flashing headlights is not an indication that you are being allowed to proceed it means " GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY I AM COMING THROUGH"
When you fill up with petrol at the pumps (esp. Mapusa), check that the pump has been re-set to zero.
Always wear your seat belt.
Be wary of buses and taxis - they honestly don't give a damn.
Watch out for unmarked speed humps and rumble strips - they are everywhere and be warned that other vehicles will overtake on them.

Funny thing happened last November when we hired a jeep,We took our grandaughter and her two friends, one day we parked it up and went down the beach when we came back the girls jumped in the back and Marian and I jumped in the front of the jeep which had a roof over the front two seats, unknown to us their was a cat asleep on the front passenger side and we had already closed the doors, WELL I dont need to say what happened next I dont know who was more shocked the cat or us, it dived up hit the roof the windscreen and the two side windows before it escaped out the back of the Jeep!!
I swear they heard the screams in Bombay!!!
