La Masia Blanes

If you scroll down the page there are a couple of old threads about Blanes and La Masia.

I have stayed there twice, last time in 2005.

If nothing has changed the Siesta caravans are at the back of the site about a 10 minute walk from the main entrance. There is a sort of enclave of British companies together. Last time we were there they were developing another area close by and looking at Google Maps it is open. There are two pools, the larger one is closer to the main entrance then there is a smaller one 2 minutes from your caravan.

The site is very clean, they employ a gang of gardeners and cleaners who work every day. There is night security who keep the site quiet and keep out the unwanted. After 10pm they close the main gates and entry in only through a small Judas gate which has someone on duty. If you are taking your car then you have to park outside if you get back after10pm.

Each pool has a bar and they do food at the bigger pool. There is a small shop by the main gate which sells pretty much all you need but there are planty of other shops in the Town as well.

The campsite is at the far end of the town from the Harbour. The Harbour is about a 30 minute walk along the Front. About half way there there isd a huge rock sticking out into the Sea, once past that rock there are dozens of restaurants on the Prom itself. We ate sevral times at the Bahia but that was 5 years back, things may have changed! The streets behind the prom at this end of the town are full of shops and there is often a small market but I don't recall which days..

The station is about a 30 minute walk at the back of the town, there you can get trains to Barcelona which drop you at the Placa De Catalunya at the top of the Ramblas.
Water buses pick up from the beach about 10 mins from the campsite and they go up and down the coast to Calella South and Tossa and Llorett Northwards.

There are a lot of private caravans on site full of Spanish which makes it quite pleasant. The site also has a back door (or it did) which is a short cut to the Station if you turn right, if you turn left you walk down a dry river valley (or dry in the Summer) and end up at a deserted beach (about a mile). This back door is locked at night.

The Beach at Blanes is fine grit, not really suitable for sand castles, the sea has quite a steep shelf and you are out of your depth very quickly. However just to the North of the Harbour (you have to get a bus round the headland or it is quite a walk or use your car) there are a couple of sandy beaches with better bathing for the children. I think it is called Santa Christina.

When we were there I would not describe it as quiet. There are a lot of 18/30 type companies that operate in the town so some bars are very lively and full of Dutch, German and Czech youngsters. There was (hopefully is still) a scottish bar just outside the camp which always seemed lively when we walked past.

well it depends when you were there? was it september? your defintion of quiet is diffrent to mine..quiet to most is obvously a lot less busy than what i would describe as busy but thats the beauty of opinion which is what yours and mine is, only an opinion ...so theres no right or wrong.i guess a holiday is what you make it.for me personally it was quiet on the basis the camp was quiet as was most of the streets and bars ,,but is if you find a busy joint then great..but a couple of busy bars doesnt consitute the reseort as busy...

Depends on what sort of holiday you want. I want a quiet camp, lively round the pool but restful around the tents/caravans. The campsite tended t put the youngster's groups togther in patches so they could make their noise without disturbing others. The resort had a good mixture, if you are young and want to have a few drinks in a noisy bar then there were several of those, if on the other hand you wanted somewhere quiet where you could eat a meal in relative peace with your family then there was also plenty of those places as well. It wasn't September because I am a teacher and have to have my holidays in August. However I would assume that going in September would just remove the families?

yes true, but i think they are a family .and september is quiet..its almost lke a ghost town on some days..im sure they will have fun.

Sometimes being quiet works in your favour. The bars are desperate to get in then retain what custom is about and so prices can be lower or they supply free rounds of drinks etc to keep you there.
