We are thinking about going to Lake Garda in july and are undicided weather to just go B/B as we both like eating out but some reports say the restraunts are expensive and other people say H/B is better value, so could anyone who has been give us their views.
P.S is it cheaper and easy to do your own excursions or pay for the organised ones before you go E.G VENICE.

I think it will depend on the hotel you go to - if it has a good reputation for food or is a way out of town then HB might be best - if the opposite then you could try B&B. We stayed HB at the Caesius ny Bardolino and didn't regret our decision.
As for excursions - you might struggle to do Venice by yourselves as it's quite a long way from Lake Garda but we managed trips to Verona, Movieland studios and Malcesine on the local buses.
