I have to agree with irishcolleen, Goa is so cheap, plus the people are friendly.
A couple of years ago i thought we would have a change, and go to Turkey instead during the summer, and i have to say we get our Goa holidays for around the same price as we got our Turkey holiday for, and we spent double in Turkey on spending money.
I went to Boulogne in February and that was cheap. I just needed to get away and it came to about £100 or so, probably less as I'm useless at converting euros etc.
We have been to places in the last few years where daily costs are small. In Goa you can't even attempt to spend £50 a day for 2 adults( unless you are a major shopper). We often spend about £30. Bali is the same and Thailand is not much dearer. We are off to Rio ( I think) in April and it will be interesting ( or may be frightening!) to see how the exchange rate has impacted there- it was another place we found to be cheap- a couple of years back. Sister has moved to Cyprus so we will also go out there this year- I think we will take badly to how much we will be spending
I think a lot of people will be going on holiday with a strict budget this next year. Years back we went to Poros for 3 weeks. After the first day I was really worried as prices were far more expensive than we had bargained for. I just couldn't see how our money would last. That was when we found that a drink in the balcony before we went out and then going back to the balcony not long after eating was a great way to unwind at the end of a heavy day sunbathing. It was one of our best holidays and it certainly did not feel like it would be at the beginning. I think we appreciate being able to sit outside at night more than others as we stay in cold Aberdeen
