We recently booked a November 2013 holiday villa rental at 27 Cortijo Viejo, Puerto Calero 35570, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain after seeing an advert on the OwnersDirect website (Homeaway). We booked the lower floor (separate area) and we were told that the owner lived on the upper floor.

To cut a long story short, the owner took our deposit and then she asked for full payment in a phone call (September 30, 2013) that was made by bank transfer (October 1, 2013) and just a few days later she cancelled (October 11, 2013) due to "power and water problems."

She promised a refund in her email of October 11, 2013 but so far we have received nothing. She is no longer in this house and she left "a while back." She has not refunded our money (about 1,000 GBP) nor does she reply to phone calls/messages.
