ive brought mozzie stuff from poundland. Never used this particular brand before but thought i would give it a whirl. Its xpel mosquito & insect repellent for kids. Pack contains spray pen and bite and sting relief lotion. I also got xpel mosquito repellent bands ( soft rubbery type) these are deet free for kids and for adults they contain deet. Anyone used any of these products? Ive also got SSS and original source lemon showergel to use. Mozzies dont normally bother us, obviously we dont taste very interesting-thank goodness!!! but thought i had better take repellant to cyprus just in case.

lilyflipflop we have never been bitten by mozzies in Cyprus (Larnaca side) but when we have been bitten it has been during the day so make sure you get suncream with repellent in it or spray your stuff over the sunlotion. Have a great holiday.
thanks for the reply lordy.
Its larnaca side we are going so hopefully we will be ok. Just going prepared incase we are a walking menu for the dreaded mozzies

Got my 50% DEET jungle formula for Borneo but wondered if anyone has used the anti-mosquito bands? Would like to hear experiences as I'm thinking of trying them too. They do so love me, got to try everything I can
Well i've started taking my garlic tabs usually work for me. A few years ago had a mossy bite go funny on my knee had to have it frozen off it was awful
so far the garlic tabs have kept mossies away so fingers crossed they still work,

How many garlic tabs do you take daily? Got mine in H&B and it says up to 6 a day, i've started on 3, do you think thats enough??
Six a day! Not just the mozzies that will be staying away lol.
Heard good reports about SMIDGE.
X-Pel wipes from Poundland are very good. You get 25 in a pack. Boots Soltan F8 contains an insect repellant, also their after sun lotion. We've just come back from 2 weeks in Corfu, only one bite between the pair of us, and took anti-histamine immediately so it went down next day. (I'd missed part of my foot!).
The wipes are 30% Deet and last 2-3 hours. Ideal when you first get up and have a cuppa on your balcony.

hi all.....bought some aftersun with insect repelent in it a few days ago from home and bargain....its in a green bottle with a pump top....got aloe vera in as well...by Calypso....thought it worth a try....got bands sprays, room plugs ect ......we stay in mobile homes and found we got bitten in the night....was told the mossies shelter in the air vents and then come out to feed on you in the night......after that I bought huge cans of cheap fly and insect killer spray.....I go round the mobile home spraying into and round all the air vents before we go out each evening....did the trick....tweetie
Had an email from Travelpharm the other day - they are now doing online malaria consulations. Basically it means that you will be able to get Malerone through them without the need to get a (potentially) pricey prescription from your GP. So if you don't have access to something like a Superdrug pharmacy where you don't have to pay for the prescription and you are travelling somewhere that requires or recommends Malerone then it's worth a look.
You fill in a questionnaire and their prescribing pharmacists check to see if you are ordering the right thing for your needs.
I'm not planning a trip to anywhere that requires it but it was one more thing that kept on adding on to the price of my Africa hol last year - tablets themselves cost enough. Hope this new service helps lots of people!

I was wondering that about calcium tablets. Not that I really trust dailymail posts, but one of their articles say that the tablets increase the risk of heart attack in women!
Are these pesky things around in Lanzarote?
Tucker
If they're not, they will be when I get there lol!. I always seem to get bitten no matter what I do, but not just in Lanza, so it's probably just me. Take a repellant, just in case.

hi tucker....we debate this all the time.....about the pesky things....so wont go on about what you can spend a jolly few hours reading on HT....but just thought Id mention the after sun I spotted not long ago....bought a few bottles ...thought easy to use and worth a try.....
I bought it from home and bargain...its an after sun in a green pump top bottle...its a Calypso one...it has insect reppelant already in it...cant remember the price....but wasnt expensive...
If I get bit its the back of the bottom half of my legs....had one took months to heal once....think it maybe because I have varicose viens there......so thought would be easy using this after sun on back of legs....the lads use loads of aftersun too....so thought good for them after thier evening shower before changing to go out...as its usually then they get the most bites...
Will post and give my verdict when I come back....4weeks to go....tweetie

After researching as much as I could about mosquitoes I went to Corfu armed with After bite, Jungle Formula plug in, Jungle Formula lotion, Boots Repel roll on, spray and wipes. I wasn't sure what would work so took a few of each.
For the first week we all used the Boots Repel wipes, simple wipe up and down the legs and arms. So happy to report that we didn't receive one bite at all
However after the wipes were used up for the second week we used the Jungle Formula lotion all over after a shower, sprayed up and down with Boots Repel before the night out and received several bites in total. My bites were not that itchy and only developed into little lumps. Strangely I received one on each hip! work that one out! Must have got me in the loos!
Compared to others at the hotel we got off lightly with bites but I would definitely take Boots Repel wipes away with us again. They seemed to work for us.

We`re at Lara Beach and I`m using Expedition which I mix with Skin so soft. Works well for me but last night after washing my hands in the rest room I got a bite on my hand. We have a Boots bite and sting relief click it which I used straight away, no itching or swelling even today. It is clinically tested but not suitable for under 4s. Can`t guarantee it but worth a try in my opinion.
Mosquito Milk Insect Repellent 50Ml on amazon for £7,25...
Just had another bite free holiday in a mozzie zone, thanks to Mosquito milk - I've been using this for a few years now and whilst it might be pricey in comparison to other products, it's actually very economical and imo worth every penny - I love it being a roller-ball application because it goes where you want it to go, and you only need a few 'stripes' .
