It's difficult for me to sit here and advise you not to book but yes it is very hot in August but it's each to their own some can cope and some can't.

I could not cope without full aircon in the accomodation and also stayed in the apartment during the afternoon and could not sit in the sun, but then again I am not a sun worshipper anyway Also getting from the beach to the sea is a mad dash because the sand burns your feet this was hard on my children who found the beach boring as they could not bear to play on the sand.

I usually go earlier in the season but can now only go last week in July and first in August. We are going back next year though because we all loved Benidorm.

If you are a bit concerned about the heat, i would probably suggest you go in May early June, or late Sept early Oct even. The heat can be fierce in the height of Summer and very busy too. Outside of those months things are generally a bit quieter, both in the old and new town. You will still usually have very plesant weather then, and also there is still lots and lots of entertainment at night. Benidorms not like many other spanish resorts which cut back on entertainment outside of the main summer months...theres always plenty going on.

Sorry just noticed you were asking about Javea and Denia, dont know much about those places, but am sure someone will be able to help!

I work in a factory and once over we had a factory shutdown in August and that is when you had to take your holidays. We always went abroad but I found the heat just too much. We don't have a full closure now and can pick our hols when we want and i find late May early June great, hot but not too hot. I wouldn't dream of taking Tom at that time of year because I know the heat would make him really grouchy. So it depends if you think your children can tolerate heat, and you mother, of 30 degrees+.

Thanks for the quick responses. It has helped. I think I will def look at June / Early July instead. Will just have to take kids out of school. I went to Benidorm this June with my husband and it was hot then, so I dont think my Mum would stand it. I love to sight see and shop, so dont want it too hot. So maddening about school hols.
