Hi, has anyone driven from Calais to Barcelona? Have done all the route planner sites but they are all giving different journey times. I wonder if anyone has done it and can give me a true indication. The times are very important as we are catching another ferry when we get to Barcelona.
Thanks in advance
Sally
Have you looked at the Via Michelin website. It will give you journey times. Are you planning on doing it in one day? According to the website Calais to Barca will take you a tad over 12 hours but that does not include any stops for breaks, paying tolls or traffic. It also takes you around Paris which can be done but needs careful attention. Taking the slightly longer route via Riems and Troyes avoids Paris and uses quieter motorways but will put an hour on the journey.
We have driven from Calais to Valance (just South of Lyon) in about 8 hours but we don't rush. Then we have a night in a hotel. Next day Valance to Barca will take you about the same time depending on the day/time you travel. If you travel on a Saturday in high season then journey times can double or you could get huge queues at tolls and the Spanish border.
