Hi Annie
Although we didn't get chance to go, the Casa Luque (in Plaza Cavana) was highly recommended to us. It looks lovely - very traditional looking. There are lots of authentic looking tapas bars on Alte. Ferrandiz - someone we met enjoyed El Pulguilla, which has a nice terrace at the back.
We enjoyed tapas for lunch in the restaurant next to the Cathedral (in the square at the end of the Balcon) - not very authentic though!

it's not tapas but if you're in nerja make sure to go to el gato negro - one of the best restaurants i've ever been to. they do things to steak that you wouldn't believe. seriously.
Try Esquina Paulina, just up into the shops from the Balcon, in one of the many alleways. Sorry I can't be more precise.
We used to live quite near to Nerja and loved the idea of tapas when we came to live in Spain. One day we decided to go to Velez Malaga and Torre del Mar which is about an half hour drive from Nerja along the coast road and sample tapas Spanish style. (as opposed to crab sticks in mayo) Although this was in 1995 I thought you might like to read it and I am sure there may be alot of these places still there as they were off the tourist track and frequented by local people. The web address is

Enjoy you tapas in Spain - find the right place and they are wonderful.

Hiya, we'll be staying at the Torresol (Torecilla Beach) for our first visit to Nerja and would like to visit some Tapas Bars - in your opinion, which are the good ones around there?
Thanks.
Thanks.
having a week in Nerja end of the month. Love a long lunch, bottle of wine, tapas. Any recommendations please.
Lesquina Paulina, in a little side street off main street leading into shopping area from Balcon de Europa.
