I was wondering how you would go about trying to hire a wheelchair in benidorm or at alicante airport , my sisterinlaw is going in for an operation , and was wondering how much it would be to hire one , or maybe the hotel (ambassador playa) might supply them .
thanks.
Hi tartanscone ... there are several rental companies in the Costa Blanca area, these are just some of the ones mentioned in the past:

http://www.mobilityabroad.com/cbservices.html
Hopefully members will be able to give you their opinions of those or other companies.
On a separate note, I take it you realise that you will need to make your travel insurer aware of your sister in law's surgery.

You could mention this at the hospital after surgery and before the discharge care plan is finalised, and they should refer you to your local Social Services, who may lend you a wheelchair on a short term release, depending on the availablity and the type of surgery your SIL has had, but, as any equipment borrowed remains the property of the Social Services, you might be well advised to include this in your travel insurance.
You could always try the Red Cross, they have branches in Scotland and also lend wheelchairs on a short term basis.

AFAIK, Wheelchairs are not part of your luggage allowance.

We hired a wheelchair from the Amigo's Group a few years ago for my husband who broke his ankle whilst in Benidorm and found them very helpful, in fact we bought one off them to bring home as it was Easter and we needed one at home on our return.
my wife has used BRITISH HIRE SERVICE she usually has a 4 whhel electric chair if you would like to try this email and ask them for what ever you want i am sure they will be able to supply you http://www.chrissie.bhs@terra.es they will deliver to whatever hotel you are stopping at so when you arrive the chair will be waiting used these for many years never any problem i hope you get sorted
thank you very much for all your help , i should get her sorted now ....as long as i`m not pushing her tae the queen mary pub
no sorry it was 2007 last time we were in benidorm
