Yes - true - but still cheaper here than either in the UK or duty free - Remember Duty Free does not mean Profit Free!!! - Marlboro $4.50'ish per pack $40.00 per 200 carton (£3.00 & £28.00 approx)
Hi - can I buy cigarettes in a London airport (we are flying from Aberdeen-London-Orlando) then take them to Florida, smoke half, then take the rest home without having to pay anything? If so, how much can I buy?
Thanks
Thanks
You are only allowed to take 200 into the US although I saw someone arrive in Vegas with a bagfull, must have been at least 1000. US Customs can be very strict depending where you land. You can only take 200 back to the UK.
You can buy the cigs at Aberdeen as long as you have an international flight ticket.

i thought you could take 400 in to the us but only 200 back in to the uk?
it seems i cannot find where i thought i saw this, did it used to be 400? as i can only see 200 now! wierd. lol.
400 is UK rule - you can take 200 into a country and another 200 for the return journey - its still 200 and has always been - UK allow the outward allowance to be brought back (if you do not smoke them on holiday!)
But this is DUTY FREE allowance - not purchased in territorial waters/airspace (i.e. plane/ship or airside at airport) If you buy in another country and ay the duty of that country then you are unlimited into the UK for PERSONAL USE ONLY (no gifts or buying for someone).
In the USA (even with recent tax increase) it is still often cheaper to buy her (Florida) than to buy Duty Free on the plane. Duty free is not Profit (for airline/seller) Free!
