We are looking at booking a holiday to Lesvos at the end of Sep/beginning of Oct. I really liked the look of Petra until I read a review somewhere from someone who said to keep driving through because it's like Blackpool. Would we be better off at Anaxos or will it be dead or closed down?
We are a couple in early 50s. We like the beach/snorkelling, a bit of touring round in a hire-car. We like gyros and good greek food in a taverna at night then sitting in a bar and watching the world go by. We have enjoyed Parga, Stoupa, Skala Potamias in Thassos and also Paleohora and Kalives in Crete. We've been to other places which I call 'Greece for the English' such as Kalamaki (Zante) and Pefkos (Rhodes) where it's all Karaoke, English breakfast and Sky Sports. This is what we are trying to avoid. Also does anyone know if the resorts will be pretty much closed down? I was thinking maybe Petra was more of an all-year-round place. I know the days will be shorter but hopefully the sea will still be warm and we can get a few hours sunbathing in.
we are also considering Samos as it's a bit further south so might be warmer for longer. Any resort recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yiamass, Jean
