I would like a 4* or maybe 3*+, on AI, somewhere within walking distance of a few shops and bars.
Don't need hectic nightlife, but somewhere to wander to would be good.
Any advice gratefully received.
Mobor One,
When I was over there in 2007, most of the hotels we picked up / dropped off at tended to be a little isolated and a distance from local towns and villages where bars etc were situated. I don't know what the west coast is like, but certainly the all inclusive hotel on the east coast tended to be like that.

Thanks Darren.
I quite like the look of Sugar Beach and La Priogue as you can use both. Will check out reviews (and prices!!)

Hi there
Was in Mauritius for 2 weeks April 2009 and will remember it 4ever!! Stayed at Le Preskil Beach and would highly reccommend it. Most of the hotels/complexes are self-contained with their own bars, restaurants etc. and no-one really ventured outside of that at night. Have a brill time - envy you!!

We went to Mauritius in January last year. We hired a car and toured most of the island. There don't tend to be resorts with shops, bars and hotels within walking distance. The only place we found that could be described in this way is Grand Bai where there are nice restaurants and bars.
Where we stayed (Legends) most people didn't ever venture beyond the long hotel drive. There is a small town within walking distance with a few shops but this is generally where local people shop.
