Could anyone advise the following questions.
What is the best way to pay the gratuities & is it an advantage to buy a drinks package.
On the trips, should you book through RC or DIY when you land in port.
Its our first cruise so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
We normally go to goa twice a year, but its our friends 25 wedding & their choice is cruise, so we will be like fish out of water.

We paid our Gratuities up front with the Travel Agent and am glad we did as it worked out much cheaper
Again we did all the trips ourself each day as we got into port. Never had any problems
AS for the drinks package we just had wine with our evening meals and paid for it at the end of the cruise. If you don't finish off the bottle they will take it away and bring it back for you the following evening at dinner Enjoy!

We always get the wine package; a 5 bottle package is just right for 7 meals, as (as has been said) if you don't finish it, they take it away and bring it back tomorrow. It is cheaper than buying it bottle-by-bottle as you go.
As for excursions, we've done both RCCL's and on our own. In some ports, you are docked a fair way away from the town, so can't just wander into town. Some trips we have done we would never had done had RCCL not offered them (like white water rafting in Vigo)
