Are you sure it's not just the website under construction???
I just went into Tsokkos Hotels website and it's letting me pick up rooms from 6th - 20th June at 38GBP per person per night on BB basis.

I am trying to book with the tour operator who I have my orginal booking through. It is them that has said there is construction work. Googling it I have found one entry relating to a new hotel next door but no details.
Ah, now that makes more sense and possibly what may have happened is the Vrissiana may have moved all of their confirmed guests into part of the hotel that's away from the building work. This may account for why there are no more rooms available on the tour ops system.
Generally, the tour operator gets feedback from their in-resort staff on any construction taking place within a certain vicinity of the hotel/s in each resort. The building work is monitored on a sliding scale as to how much impact it is expected to have on each weeks/months arrivals.
The tour op will decide what to do in the event the work is considered too extreme.
The tour op will have created what's known as an errata on their reservations system so that all new reservations are either notified or if the rooms are on stop sale, which sounds like what's happened. Generally, you will receive notification of the work too but usually only a few weeks before your departure as it's pointless telling you unless it is going to affect your holiday.
If the rooms are on stop sale then it does sound like it's expected to continue for a while longer so ideally you may want to find out exactly what the work is. A lot depends on whose work it is too. Tsokkos may offer an alternative accommodation if the work is of their own doing especially if you want to add on extra passengers.

I was over there for a few days between Christmas and New Year. There was a large area cleared out for building work right next door to the Vrissiana - or rather to the side at the back of it. It was large enough for a new hotel certainly. I am sure it won't be building work at the Vrissiana itself as it was only refurbished last year (or the year before, my memory is rubbish).
We need someone on the ground...CARDIFF LAD are you there?
I will pm him

Dont panic pubdog i'm here.
I will have a check and see.
I haven't been into Protaras for a while due to working 6 days a week in Ayia Napa but from what I remember the ground next to the Vrissiana is due to be built on I believe as part of the unrise Beach hotel which is on the other side of the waste ground.
